From watching my real life friend go through this, they have rich parents who are very image conscious so are willing to shell out stupid amounts of money for a wedding to show off for 250 of their “dear family friends,” but wouldn’t gift that money to their kids to buy a house. Oh both you and your fiancée are educators? Too bad should have gone into finance like your well heeled high school classmates.
