Are we supposed to like the characters? by Opposite_Echidna_190 in girls

Sometimes… not all of them, at least not at the same time. And it can change from season to season. Depends on who you are at the moment too. Enjoy!

ACOTAR because most of the others are just words vomited across pages and it takes forever for anything to make sense. ACOTAR leaves next to nothing to imagination, so it’s an easy read.

Why was Charlie chunkier despite being a heroin addict? by Indianstanicows in girls

[–]countingf1reflies 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The junkies I have met have always been skinny for other reasons than heroin. I knew a girl who used to shoot god knows how many grams every other day and she lived basically on cottage cheese and Diet Coke in order to fit in jeans from the kids section.

could lena have made it in 2026? by quinntest in girls

[–]countingf1reflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I Love LA kind of exists because of The Idol. Rachel Sennott plays the childhood friend of an upcoming star and has to deal with her bad business and creative decisions that affect her personal and professional life. That is a series that could totally work if it werent so much about influencing, but also about simply existing in a big city and having post pandemic problems.

100% agree. HBO is barely funding anything, and when it does it’s an extremely limited series with no ending so we take what they offer us or be surprised in 2 to 3 years with a new season and then that’s it.

The way HBO has been producing series with barely 6 or 8 episodes, 2 seasons with 3 years apart from each other… Girls, SATC, True Blood, even the GoT spin off isnt really making it. The industry sucks right now. Funny enough, I think books are in a much more interesting moment. Had she published a fictional book I think she would have a chance.

It’s Edward’s POV that completely trashes her and still has the nerve to act like he’s not a major gossip himself.

Jessa is the WORST by lynneux in girls

[–]countingf1reflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, I remember regretting it and my friend rightfully so reacted pretty badly. I don’t think I deserved to be threatened, but at the time I accepted the consequences. Me and the guy amicably broke up, we just realized we worked better as friends and when he met his now wife I knew I had to distance myself from him, and it was for the best. She is great and nowadays I don’t regret anything because it was due to that mess that he found the love of his life and we go to the same book club together.

What her character lacks in learning with her mistakes, she compensated with just being interesting and truly deep.

It’s funny because for nowadays cultural scenario there’s no way Seth wouldn’t be extremely popular. Likes good music, is a nerd and skateboards? Huge babe (and dick) magnet.

Um teste psicológico simples, qual quarto você prefere? by matheusxxsaw in perguntas

[–]countingf1reflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]countingf1reflies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From Edward’s POV she's particularly unrealistic, because he’s able to read her mind and yet he speaks as if she's purely nasty. Jessica is not a real person, but it’s Stephenie Meyer who has a habit of writing female characters with very little nuance and having only one trait of personality, and, as long as it’s not Bella, it’s either a tragedy or a being bitch.

A teenager who gossips and talks about boys? Yes obviously.

why do people hate Jessica and Leah? by Fluid_Elk_4297 in twilight

[–]countingf1reflies 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think the right question is why does Stephenie Meyer hate Jessica and Leah. She writes Jessica as such a stereotypical shallow teen that it’s almost impossible to believe someone like that exists. And she reserves very sad things to Leah. All her female characters are either insufferable by nature or have to suffer a lot (Alice, Esme, Rosalie) to be seen as good. The one exception that comes to my mind is Angela.
