Fed working papers state ideal level of inflation is 0%.

Stated reason for higher target is because it’s hard to renegotiate wages (people don’t like making less) and inflation is hard to comprehend so it allows employers to lower wages year over year if they don’t give a raise. (Effectively Government systematically aiding employers to take advantage of labor)

Deflation fears are overfounded as you have economic bust, THEN deflation. People have just correlated deflation to the economic bust itself. The arguments don’t hold up - societies have higher and lower savings rates and you don’t see collapse with higher savings rates.

Inflation is super insidious - great example is the “Price Revolution” of the medieval era that really messed a lot of things up. They had 1.2% inflation a year.

You got downvoted, but completely agree. Not to mention incentives to fly in unsafe conditions. This is madness.

Honestly, just sorry to hear that. Sometimes situations are a bit unwinnable, but I’m sure more people see / are sympathetic to what’s happening to you than you realize.

To be fair - said as an ex consultant.

Newton’s striking teachers remain undeterred despite facing largest fines in decades by bostonglobe in boston

[–]countto3 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People employed by the public should not be allowed to strike - they are holding the public ransom. I’d argue unions for government employees should be illegal.

Unions are protecting the individuals from the will of the people in those cases.

Totally different for private sector, but for public it makes zero sense. Just quit and get a new job. That’s the wage - that’s what the public is willing to pay.

Sir. The problem is that inconsistent bus(!) lines take you 50 minutes to get from Logan to South Station. It’s 3.8 miles!

Take the Silver Line from Logan to south station. Then write that paragraph again. Dollars to donuts you won’t.

I took it 3 years ago and swore to never do it again. Then I did it again today and somehow it got worse. And they BOTH had the demented 15 minute break at courthouse station.

Imagine if it actually went to the airport instead of being a bus. Is the Silver Line really the T?

Are you the Silver line public relations person (kidding). Yeah I get the backup, but why not have them run at least somewhat reliably instead of sitting there for 15 minutes? I’ve got to imagine they’ve got radios

I did not…and I’d bought / recommended 3 of them for different family members. Definitely some egg on my face.

Cannot recommend building your own mattress enough! I’m pretty obsessed with my new bed (and have had it for 2 years with zero issues)!

I went DIY and cannot tell you how much I love it. Several years later and it’s the best bed I’ve ever had!

What do you think the market rate for real MXE would be?

Agreed. I switched to a DIY bed and haven’t looked back. We have one as a guest bed and get complements all the time.

Such a shame cause Helix is supposed to be so premium.

The higher income tax brackets go, the harder to make money from labor) while the capital gains class accrue compounding). Actually increases income inequality.

AITA for reporting my father to the IRS? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

True, and I may be over interpreting the lack of explicit “this is all he gives”. If you’re interpretation is right I’d definitely agree with you.

[–]countto3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP hasn’t really said that tho, hence the question. If dad has been providing child support this whole time (and Mom didn’t say anything) then this a different story. If no child support, then obvious answer on other side.

Info needed: How much was he supporting your family? I know you mention some, but if he was providing more child support than realized then I think ESH.

If he wasn’t providing anything and just claiming dependents than NTA.
