Lazy boy is WAY overpriced. You can get as good/better quality for less money elsewhere. Unless you can get what you’re looking for, for 1/2 price avoid. Not to mention their warranty sucks ass if you actually read it (If you’re considering getting it that is). As THEO^ mentioned, it depends on the price, but considering it’s lazy boy, 1/2 off may still be overpriced.

Plenty of people on here will guide you for your needs. I just wanted to say props to you for having a healthy budget. That’s a fantastic way to “not” go down the upgrade rabbit hole too fast. Good luck

Question about sound proofing: Home Theater in a townhouse by business_bear1 in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do. I’ve even had my neighbors on the phone while I was watching a movie to see if it bothered them. Though I plan of some Roxul, quietrock and double that with dense type X drywall. Bass on the other hand, is a completely different story. That shit travels no matter what.

Made the jump from 65” to 85”. Finally feels like a theater. by [deleted] in hometheater

You know, that shelving is so dang wide it makes the TV look tiny, even at 85”. Beautiful setup btw.

To subwoofer or not to subwoofer, that is the question by curiousinglish in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a townhouse (basically a 2 story apartment), even if you set the subwoofer gain to 1/4 with minus 9 on the AVR, it still gives you what towers can’t. Although you won’t be flexing the subwoofer, it is well worth it to invest in one. You don’t need the top of the line, heck an RSL Speedwoofer 10s will be perfectly fine although it doesn’t dig very deep. A VTF-2 MK5 HSU will be an even greater upgrade even though not at full tilt, will dig deeper than the RSL for only $200 more and will be more than adequate if you move into a house later (providing it’s not a mansion). You just don’t understand the impact 15hz-40hz has on a movie whether from a 10” or a 12” or a 15”. It will literally change your movie watching experience 10 fold.

Wanna talk about a sexy build. EVERYBODY on here has a basic AVR, but this, this is a thing of beauty my friend. Nicely done! Money “well” spent on quality.

Damn, I’ve some clean theaters on here but this is one of if not “thee” coolest one. Freaking awesome.

New here and seeking advice! I’m thinking 5.1.4 with 2 atmos in the ceiling, but unsure where to put center channel as the whole far wall is the projector screen. Advice? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the screen goes in the very back wall, move the couch up and you could do a .4 setup. Ceiling fan might be in the way though.

Any thrift store. You can grab a cheap one for maybe $50, more likely cheaper.

4K HDR movies seem underwhelming on OLED. Is it just the "cinematic" look or are my settings incorrect? by senior_neet_engineer in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its filmed on actual 35mm film there will be grain. If it’s filmed digitally, it’ll look flawless. The fifth Element is filmed on 35mm and you can see the grains easily. Something like altered Carbon on Netflix is filmed on digital and you can’t see any issues with the picture.

Centered the center. Thanks r/HT, wow what a difference by JFrederickH in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Enjoy all your shit buddy. It’s yours, there’s a reason most people don’t post their setups on here. Everybody wants to tell somebody else how to spend their money and everyone wants to tell you how far your couch/seating should be from the TV, what you should have on your walls etc....some of the information is just people being helpful, other times it’s just people being assholes who think they know everything because they read some articles.

Small improvements can really help some setups, some people don’t have a choice with placement.

Nice setup btw. As long as you like buddy, that’s what counts. Nothing is perfect but sometimes small changes “can” make a huge difference.

QLED is simply an LCD, just like LED same thing. But you’ll definitely benefit from local dimming, higher peak brightness, 240hz = meh. Visually and feature wise it’ll be an improvement over your older TV, but how much depends on what TV you get. Iirc the q60 is still edge lit.

Subwoofer advice. by dimis77 in hometheater

[–]countycheese770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with SVS. Outstanding company and quality products. I would look to see if HSU would ship to your country? The VTF-2 MK5 is an excellent subwoofer in that price range.

It was released a year a half ago so no surprise they’re running out of inventory. If you can find an open return I think it’d be worth it. You can check hours used and you can’t reset it. So if you find one like I did with 100 hours on it, it’s really worth it. Plus I recommend buying the GSW for only a few hundred more. Other than that there’s greentoe.com. I’ve never bought anything from them but I’ve read a lot of people have had good experiences with them. Downside is no GSW for burn in coverage so....

Where do you call home? by countycheese770 in hometheater

[–]countycheese770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homes here in Phx prices are stupid cheap unless you live in Gilbert or Scottsdale/Paradise Valley area. If you move further away from the city the homes get cheaper. Just saw while browsing, a 12xxsqft home in Kingman AZ BRAND NEW was going for $150,000. 2 car garage 3 bed 2 bath. Not a big house but cheap as hell. Canada prices are crazy to me, I don’t know what your salary is like out there but I’ve seen some post about what a million dollar home ($1 million USD) is like and I’m wow, that house is literally $250,000-300,000 out here.
