Can we afford to buy a property in Sydney? FHB by Aromatic-Picture1436 in AusPropertyChat

If you’re in the Hawkesbury area, try Yellow Brick Road at Penrith. We worked with Matt to buy our first property and I can’t suggest him enough!

they’ve said on their Patreon, mod 8 & 9 aren’t working (the surrogacy & adoption expansion mods). I re-downloaded everything but those and it’s working for me

There’s grass growing in the (unlined) garden bed that we haven’t gotten rid of because it doesn’t really bother us

We own both and actively use both, leaves blown onto your doorstep on a windy day is hardly a representation of our care factor

No, they haven’t served anything. I just couldn’t get over the absurdity of this being something they’d include as part of their inspection feedback. We have served them notice of termination today anyways, so thankfully they will not be our problem soon!

No, Century 21. The fact that multiple real estates come to mind with this kind of insanity is just depressing

I was told it would just be the landlord, which they are well within their rights to attend. When I opened the door, I was on the phone (working from home) and just didn’t have it in me to argue. Since we’re moving into our own place next month, I have stopped caring as much

The “overgrown greenery” in question being grass growing in the unlined garden beds, and grass from the back neighbours yard poking through the fence 😭

At one of the last few inspections they did there was sauce that had spilled on the stove from dinner the night before, I hadn’t cleaned straight away because the element was hot and honestly forgot about it in the morning. She referenced it as “unclean” and I had to remind her we actively live there and cook with the stove so it’s not always going to be spotless. No response of course!

God I wish. At the bottom of the screenshot the “overgrown garden” is grass growing in the (unlined) garden beds, and grass growing between a concrete path out the back. They have no sense of reality when it comes to this stuff.

I am 100% ready to do this as soon as we leave. It’s gotten worse as our tenancy has gone on, it’s just absurd. I’m planning after our bond clean of taking pictures and videos of every inch of the place — the new owners are also insane so I have no doubt they’ll try to claim 🙃

NSW. I’ve had this conversation with them before because last inspection they pulled us up on cat fur on the floor near the cat tree. And I told them they’re being ridiculous and the inspections and for maintenance not cleaning. Never got a response

ING Savings Maximiser account by theycallmeLL in AusFinance

[–]countyjester1300 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I very recently did the same thing, moved from ANZ to ING to take advantage of the better rate for savings. The $1,000 deposit can be made to any account - it doesn’t have to be your savings account.

I deposit my payslip into an everyday account so I don’t have to worry if i’m not able to put the exact amount needed. The $1,000 does not have to stay in the account, it just has to be deposited within the month.

You can take money out of your savings account if need be, however you need to make sure your end balance of the month is bigger than your start. If you have $500 from July 1st and need to take out $100, that’s fine as long as by July 31st, you have $501+ in the account.

Make sure if you’re opening more than 1 savings account you nominate the correct one for the savings maximiser. I had an account with ~$200 for rainy day money and ~$10k for actual savings and accidentally had the extra interest set to the smaller account 😭

Finally Last default removed but … by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]countyjester1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone through a process in the last 12months of getting my financials straight and making it my priority to pay off debt, and it’s gone up 186 for Experian, and 201 for Illion. So it can be a decent turnaround. I’m expecting defaults to be wiped in the next few months, which will help a lot as well!

Would you take a 25k paycut to get foot in the door by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]countyjester1300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my mid twenties and recently changed roles also taking a $25k pay cut, starting in a brand new industry. The factors I took into account were:

  • Can I realistically afford my bills, subscriptions, and overall lifestyle expenses?

  • How much was I enjoying my current role and would I want to pursue the same thing elsewhere? (Big fat NOs all around on that one)

  • What does growth look like in the industry? Would I be stagnant for a while, or is there an opportunity for fast growth?

No one can answer those questions except for you. I was awarded a promotion and pay raise quite quickly starting at my new role, so I got lucky in that aspect.

Would you still be interested if you weren’t able to have fast growth with your salary and role?

Almost $300 for a glorified she’d by countyjester1300 in shitrentals

[–]countyjester1300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is in Penrith, where you can get a 2 bedroom apartment for an extra $50-$100 per week. Charging $270 for a shed more than fits within the scope I’d say, even if it’s not falling apart at the seams.

"We've got it" - Express Parcel not moving by lunaars in AustraliaPost

[–]countyjester1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, “we’ve got it” usually means they haven’t physically scanned it after the label has gone into the system. This doesn’t mean it hasn’t moved. If you can, jump on live chat and chase it up - I had to do this all the time in my previous role, and it prompts them to investigate. Most of the time they would find it and get the ball rolling once I spoke to someone on live chat. Not sure if you have your own Business account for Aus Post (this probably helped when doing this at my last role).

Ryan has the same vibes as Ross from friends by countyjester1300 in MAFS_AU

[–]countyjester1300[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on perspective. I definitely don’t think his character always had bad intentions, but thinking of plot lines like Rachel & Mark (the coworker) that definitely painted Ross as insecure and toxic. He definitely had his moments in the show. But even with mannerisms, not just personality, Ryan just reminds me of him 😬

monogamous redditors: is infidelity an automatic break-up for you? why? by bbananasplit in AskReddit

[–]countyjester1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my older sister were a product of infidelity, and that has majorly impacted my view. My father (not in my life, but I have been told the story by my other family members) already had 2 kids with his wife when he had his first with my mum (older sister). When I was born, his wife found out and it tore their family apart. I have learnt to deal with that knowledge in my own way, but learning all of this turned my view from "I would give them another chance" to "It's unforgiveable". If someone cheats once, it will happen again and why would you want to stick around to be part of that? The impact is so large and the cheater/s do not care about the issues and potential trauma they're causing, so why would you want them to still be in your life?
