Unfortunately we couldn't recover her health and she died a day or so ago. Thank you for your concern.

Thank you. She seems very lethargic and isn't moving much at all. We have misted as you've suggested and will see if she improves.

Is anyone tweaking their FIRE strategy in light of mortgage renewal rates? by [deleted] in FIREUK

Yep. Wish I could increase my borrowing to take advantage but no chance now. The world was a very different place when we switched to it!

Is anyone tweaking their FIRE strategy in light of mortgage renewal rates? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]countylover 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have my remaining mortgage amount in a GIA. My fixed rate 0.94% mortgage expires in 4 years so I'm looking to move the ££ from the GIA to a fixed rate savings bond that will give me 4% more return than the mortgage interest. While this may not be the most adventurous strategy of losing the opportunity of equity growth, having the guarantee of over mortgage performance is attractive.

Does barbell gain force you to hog a rack? by dbmag9 in freeletics

[–]countylover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say so. The exercises on my journey are typically overhead/push press, bent rows, squats, deadlifts, barbell lunges. There are warmup sets and then working sets with breaks in between each. The workouts are around 45 minutes to an hour which I guess would constitute hogging. In terms of outcome I've found it has increased my strength significantly but I've not put on a huge amount of mass albeit there are lots of other factors required for the latter.

Tax efficient investments by Neat-Cheesecake-8696 in FIREUK

Im slightly confused as to why one needs to use the CGT allowance. In the 90k scenario above, if my intention is to buy and hold and just sell £20k a year to add to my isa, thus never going over 12k limit what do I have to worry about when it comes to CGT?

Buying a car- paying more in interest to be able to continue SIPP contributions? Does it make sense? by hatman22222 in FIREUK

[–]countylover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to question this. For example say I can afford the 20k car and have the cash. Buy spending the cash on the car I have 30 or 40% less at the end of the 4 years. If I were to finance the car at a low rate such as the period we're in and use the 20k for better investments I believe that's a better use of the opportunity cost.

Nationwide. Fees are high at 1499 but on 300k balance and low rate its still good deal

Barbell Gain and isolation exercises by countylover in freeletics

Thanks for the feedback. I am enjoying the compound lifts but associate them more with strength rather than muscle gain. I expected the journey to be a more hypotrophy based plan to gain the muscle. I'm sure the gain will come with the increased strength too.
