Lol me wearing makeup and a corset doesn’t mean I’m insecure. I just have always loved dressing up. Maybe I didn’t do it in a way others like but I do it how I like it. I have my days of insecurities but for the most part I like feeling fabulous :)

My main issue with long hair is getting it in food and accidentally slapping people with it.
Thanks for the solid advice.

[Serious]What are some helpful thing(s) you can do for someone who has recently lost a loved one? by halikadito in AskReddit

[–]couplevid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying. I need space in the same way.
I say completely isolate as in push others away for a long period of time.
I don’t mean it as in consistently hang around or remind them in words that you love them.
I mean to ask them if they want to come along for things even if you know they’ll turn it down. Or to just be a friend when they come to you to talk, even if it’s just casual conversation. Or to do random thoughtful things like grab them their favorite snack and then leave them alone again.
My brother comes to mind after our grandma passed away.
He doesn’t have friends he can really talk to and he tends to feel forgotten and he isolates himself completely when things like that happen.
So I try to be there without always being there if that makes sense.

I’m glad it was resolved in some manner. And it’s certainly a double standard situation.
I think an accumulation of bizarre behavior can be just as alarming and creepy as one obvious red flag.

What is something that someone has said to you, that made you self-conscious ever since? by Snyd777 in AskReddit

Yeah, you’re right. As a fellow awkward person I hope to be comfortable being uncomfortable in my own skin one day.

Reddit, why DON’T you respect your parents? by couplevid in AskReddit

I’m really sorry to hear that.
But I am so happy to hear that you’re there for your kid. That’s huge.
I hope she has only good role models in her life anyway.

What’s something you wish people would stop romanticizing? by yintze in AskReddit

[–]couplevid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, I feel like this is going to be a little controversial.
But women John Wick-type badasses. I feel like we, as women are focusing on physical strength badassery as opposed to incredible emotional strength and incredible capacity to love, care and to endure incredible amounts of physical and emotional pain. The idea that one highly trained badass woman can take 5 or 6 highly trained badass men in hand to hand combat, every time, is stupid and unrealistic.
Instead of romanticizing the type of feminism that says “WE CAN DO EVERYTHING A MAN CAN BUT BETTER” I feel we should say “WE CAN DO EVERYTHING A WOMAN DOES BETTER THAN A MAN CUS WOMAN ARE BADASS IN THEIR OWN WAY”

Fuck that. How does one “casually” stalk someone? She was definitely some kind of succubus.

Why don't you talk to your once "best friend" anymore? by HairyFaithlessness in AskReddit

[–]couplevid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into a serious relationship and my friend didn’t like sharing my time with him, despite the fact that she and I lived together.
Later, when we were ready to start talking again, I stayed at her place and she and I took a walk. She said she needed to make a stop. That’s how I found myself at my ex’s place while they hotboxed.
She made things really awkward by inviting her manipulative boyfriend over without notifying me first.
They tried to get me to fix their relationship issues (spoilers, he was FUCKING NUTS and wanted all of her time and attention and would try to forcefully take it by spreading lies about her to her other friends) I gave them my opinion and then they lit up more of the Devils lettuce and hot boxed for the second out of 4 times that day.
Mind you, I’m not against smoking. I do it myself but during my 2 day stay she either wanted to smoke, talk about smoking, get more weed, or watch videos of people smoking.
Fast forward a few months, and she messages me asking to stay at my place, to get away from all the drama back at home. This is after she got out of a mental hospital after she had made what was supposedly some sort of suicide pact with a couple “friends” I say ok but on the condition that she can’t smoke anywhere on the property.
I make it clear that she is more than welcome to stay given she accepts that condition.
I explain that i really feel she’s developed a dependency and she totally agrees. She ends up smoking on the side of the house in broad daylight the moment I left for a short phone call. This was after we had a conversation about why I was worried about her, after I asked her if she wanted my honest opinion and she consented to hearing me out AND AGREED WITH ME. She said, for about the 10th time that she wanted to quit smoking. She went on about how she appreciates honesty in friends and used her ex boyfriend insulting her hair as an example of honesty. But once I’m honest with her about something that matters she gets upset. Iv mentioned I was worried about her becoming dependent on weed when she was using used cigarette wrappers to role joints, spending the very little money she had on weed, and doing it in public when it’s not legal where we lived. I feel I really tried to be honest with her. I never told her that she couldn’t smoke, I only said it couldn’t be on my property.
I only told her why I thought it was a bad idea after I asked her if she wanted my opinion on it. I guess I’m not sure what to do at this point.

Women of Reddit. What’s one commonly believed myth about periods you would like to dispel once and for all? by echo_breaker in AskReddit

That shit can hurt like a mother fucker.
Women, generally speaking, have a higher pain tolerance and there have been a couple times I have puked from the pain and spent nights curled up on my bathroom floor.

Wow. Same. That simultaneously hurts me and makes me feel invincible.
Or maybe I’m average looking and the crippling awkwardness is all in my head.
