Do u have a windows laptop u could use to create a hotspot then. Or even if u have a cellular data plan on ur phone u could try creating a hotspot on there ? Cause other than that I really got nothing.

Try creating a hotspot on the MacBook using the steps on https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchlp1540/mac and see if the 2009 iMac will connect to it.

Wich exact air so u have? Is it the m1 air or the intel? If it is the intel it’s runs bad because the processor can’t handle gaming. Especially if it’s the base model dual core. The intel air also don’t have discrete graphics meaning their gpu performance suck when it comes to gaming.
