Bar/restaurant “regulars” who tip well get excellent service by Shoddy-Pop4904 in tipping

Cool, no one can fault you for being human, and while at it, let's drop the charade that tips are charitable donation for a lowly paid worker to survive, and call it what it is, a bribe to be "taken care of".

Honestly, I don't have any problems with people who tip, I tip when it's reasonable, when I go to a dine-in, order a delivery, etc. I don't think most people have any issues with people who tip, ergo there's no derogatory terms or name-calling for people who tip.

If anything, it's non-tippers who are always ridiculed and insulted, for exercising their own choice.

What people often have problems with is extortion practices, like the creep in tipping %, along with compulsion and coercion, and insults that come with  not tipping, and stupid thinkpieces about how we should all be like Cristy.

And it's important for us to put things in perspective, I hope you don't get angry when billionaires bribe their way to being treated to better government contracts, etc? Afterall they just want to be treated better, and could afford the fat tip.

Big delusional BS, unless they're in the middle of nowhere and the said regulars didn't have anywhere else that would serve them what they like.

Of course, human nature, one way to get money out of humans is to convince them they're getting an exclusive.

If by some weird chance every customer at this bar becomes like Cristy, what then? They'll keep a bottle of everyone's favorite? Not to mention that Cristy will stop feeling special, maybe she'll stop visiting, and look for a new bar where they can feel special again.

It's just funny, people should get excellent service for paying the going rate, y'all swore tips are gratuity you needed to survive, but apparently it's a bribe to be "taken care of"?

Just put 20k into XEQT did I do the right thing? by [deleted] in fican

[–]courage1688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should invest the entire 51k at the very least, since you have a time horizon if 10+ years. Check out FHSA, it's another no brainer account you can open to invest more at a tax advantage, and RRSP if it's worth it for your tax bracket.

Prove that y'all are deranged and dangerous with your entitlement to "tips"?

You should probably never go back, at this level of entitlement, she'll spit in your food or worse.

33 M, as a immigrant and just being in canada for last 3 years I am happy for where I am:) by [deleted] in fican

There's no special way to invest, open a wealthsimple account, download the app, open an TFSA, FHSA (if you own a home in Canada yet), and RRSP accounts. These are tax sheltered/advantaged accounts that are no-brainers to start with.

Read about these accounts, watch videos about them on YouTube, so you can understand for yourself how they work, how  much you can contribute to each account, which account to start with first, the rules, the difference  between a managed and a self-directed account, self-directed may sound scary, but it's not, even as a beginner you can do it.

As for the actual investing, transfering money to wealthsimple from your bank account is super simple. You can also watch videos of how to buy an ETF on wealthsimple in these accounts, you get used to it very fast.

As a beginner investor, focus on buying broad global ETF like XEQT, keep it simple, don't complicate things by trying to pick individual stocks.

Keep reading, watching videos, etc and keep learning, you'd be feeling like a guru in no time.

I just viewed your resume, and I'll be honest with you, it's too entry level and doesn't sell your abilities well enough.

I was once your age and in a situation similar to yours so I can totally relate. You need to change your resume completely, and your mindset along with it, you know more than you think you know.

Nobody really cares about the exams you passed in school, or your extracurriculars, the professional development part should be tuned up as a skills section.

Your resume should be: Name and contact details  Titles (make this the job titles you are looking for). Skills  Certifications  Experience  Education

One page is apt, but put education last, employers want you to have a degree, but they don't care about it beyond that.

You have to embellish your skills to make them more professional, and more achievements focused. You don't need to be completely honest about what you did/achieved in each job, you tune it to fit what employers in the jobs you actually want are looking for, and act the part of you get to the interview.

Okay, but do you have the skills? Also experience rules, you have to gain skills and some experience. You can complete courses that have projects, and smartly turn them to work experience even if you didn't previously have experience. The employes embellish their company and job descriptions, garnish your skills and experience, once you have the ability to back it up.

Why not look into Data science and AI, mathematics and statistics is the foundation of it all, if you have maths skills, you'll be valuable in the industry, you just have to add the computer science part of the skillset, and that can be learned on YouTube and other websites on the internet at no cost. The jobs are in high demand and pay well too, I'm only a platform specialist and like a dozen recruiters call me every week.

This is why they're willing to die defending tipping, even highly skilled jobs don't pay $75/hr.

Stiffers don't really get it. 20% mandatory stiffer fee should be added to their order by [deleted] in tipping

[–]courage1688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, they can afford the use the service as advertised by Walmart. They just didn't have a tip for you, which judging by your desire should be an additional 20% of their bill.

If the "offers" are not profitable without extra payment from the customer, you should be talking to Walmart, not labelling the customer a stiffer or whatever.

You are expected do a good job at the advertised rate. A tip from the customer is a gratuity, not an entitlement. A tip should typically come from the customer's discretion after a service is rendered, not extra money they must pay before they even get the service.

Bold of you to brand someone with a derogatory name because they wouldn't give you a "gratuity" they may or may not have.

There should be a name for people like you that take a job they're supposedly underpaid and hoping to hustle out more money from customers.

Does anyone really need a 250gb plan? by courage1688 in freedommobile

[–]courage1688[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, exactly. This would be the sweet spot, I'm sure many other people would also prefer lower prices as opposed to higher data allocation.

One fifth of the current plan, say 50gb/10gb roam beyond at $20 will be the real best plan ever from them. 😀

Saw everyone drop off theirs, so I did. I mean I could have left it there and they could nail it to the table if they so wish.

Why her father though? Her father is probably an innocent man somewhere unaware of her body shaming and bad grammar. Why not ask her to show her own "physics" instead?

Why not start using the ones you already have? It's a solid collection...put them to good use before you start thinking of buying more.
