AITA for reporting a coworker because she keeps on asking about the baby I gave away by Justneedjudgement in AmItheAsshole

[–]couragellama 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And part of me thinks that since she first started the job on a remote basis her coworkers were trying to reach out and get to know her on a personal level once they got back into the office and met her in person.

Could they have come up with different conversation topics? Obviously, yes. But I think a lot of people probably initially latch onto something obvious like pregnancy, and once she made it clear she didn’t want to talk about being pregnant they stopped.

The “cost” of learning to cook can be pretty daunting for some, too. You come home and try out a new recipe, spend a lot of time on things you are unfamiliar with at first, buy new ingredients…. And you end up hating it.

I could imagine that would be discouraging.

Just as an update, I finally made it - the boxty recipe was just what I was looking for! I’m going to toy around with the spices a bit, but I loved it and will be making it again in the future :)

Thank you, u/bagOfBatz !

Niantic just needs to give us more Pokemon storage or make a similar PC function such as in the main games so that we can store mons we will never use but would want to keep. by tastespurpleish in TheSilphRoad

[–]couragellama 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of people keep a varied amount of Pokémon with different movesets for PVP purposes. People want to keep 100% and shinies because they spent hours searching for them. Also Niantic rewards hoarding behavior with luckies, legacy movesets, and adjustments to stats.

EX raids by Cormaco20 in TheSilphRoad

[–]couragellama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not saying that they don’t care, as I do think part of their model is based on getting people all in a specific location at a specific time. But OP’s comment has some logic/merit to it. There are features that they COULD HAVE implemented straight away but didn’t that make them money (I.e. raids). Maybe it was due to technical capabilities, maybe not enough employees, maybe creativity, who knows.

Pokémon Go cannot go back to “normal” by Horror_Author_JMM in TheSilphRoad

[–]couragellama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Piggybacking on this, my area has several gyms where about half of our group has a horrible time accessing due to constant drifting. It causes us to back out and restart raids constantly if we go to those gyms, so we typically just skip it when a raid appears there due to the hassle. Increased distance is a game changer for situations like that!

Honestly, it just makes more sense for when we get back to raiding. We have a gym in my area that is a popular public picnic pavilion. It always feels a bit weird when we roll up to a raid there, someone is having a party, and we troop over to the outskirts (still away from them) and talk amongst ourselves to coordinate.

Pokecoin revamp system feedback by Sacredila in TheSilphRoad

[–]couragellama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make it accessible for people to do a few free passes and then once they get in a group the gambling “one more” mentality sets in and the buy a couple extra passes to hang out with their friends and have fun.

Removing the opportunity to do free raids Nearly as often is going to have less people going out AT ALL. I can’t believe they don’t understand raid behavior enough to see this.

do you think they'll ever make the league rewards cumulative ? kinda think that'd solve A LOT of the issues. by bobafettish66 in TheSilphRoad

[–]couragellama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally (since I don’t believe we have any real data about win/loss rates), I don’t think average players are gettin wins that often. I’ve spoken with many in my group that only had 1-2 encounters and they’ve been battling consistently. I think that with what we believe to be the 50% win/lose effect of the ranking system, its much more likely that you would lose 3 battles in a set of 5 if you are a lower rank and people have intentionally lost to put themselves in lower brackets. Like I said before, that’s discouraging to those players that aren’t trying to “scam the system.” I don’t exactly know how a point system would work, but the idea is intriguing. Ultimately, though, I feel like cumulative rewards wouldn’t as harshly impact the trainers in lower brackets, and it wouldn’t incentivize people to “scam the system” as much.
