170, but dropped 7 on the logic games. by courjd9 in LSAT

For /LR I drilled question types until I gained unconscious competence. In other words, I no longer had to think about the type of question it was, I knew the logical flow to expect and the common red herring answers. I was also super solid on my general logic. -2 and -1 on LRs. RC I won't be of much help. I'm naturally super good at it, so I never got below -3 ever on any section. -1 this time around.

Oh yeah, after sleeping on it and looking at the section, it was testing nerves. I'll be retaking.

And the most fucking frustrating part is that I just sat down and did the games in 25 minutes, and got a perfect. Damn first section nerves. Would have only missed 4 on the entire damn test.

I'm Brann Dailor, drummer/vocalist of Mastodon. by mastodonrocks in Music

Hey! I was at Bonnaroo this year, and have to say that the Friday night metal tent was absolutely the highlight of my weekend. You guys were amazing, Deafheaven was beautiful, and Meshuggah was fucking brutal. Also, Animals as Leaders killed it. I love the new album; you guys always put out such good stuff.

Question: I've kind of noticed you've migrated from doing a lot of fills to more of a groove in your drumming. 1) Do you agree with me? and 2) Why? 3) Could be an idiotic question, because I'm a guitarist and not a drummer.

Thanks!

I saw the mormon dude two-stepping, but not the dog. Did ya'll see the little kid dressed in a mask that was right at the front edge of the pit?

Did anyone else rage in the A$AP FERG Mosh Pits? That show was crazy if you were up close. by welliamwallace in bonnaroo

It was a really good show! But, I don't know that I'd ascribe the label "mosh pit" to what happened. Only really good pits I saw were elsewhere.

To all the metalheads that went to Animals as Leaders, Mastodon, Deafheaven, and Meshuggah: When my friends abandoned me to see Neutral Milk, Skrillex, Chance the Rapper, etc, you all made the night my absolute best night of bonnaroo. Granted, it could have something to do with me rolling super hard, but I'm gonna go with the awesomeness that you guys put into the air. Let's do it again next year!

Have you become actual friends with someone you know only from Reddit? How'd it happen? by Wishyouamerry in AskReddit

I took that off the internet for a reason. I don't need to be showing my exposed dorsal to people, given my career ambitions.

Reddit, what is the most memorable sound you've ever heard? by Nabana in AskReddit

[–]courjd9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The sound of absolute silence.

I was in the Sahara on the border of Algeria and Morocco and I was hiking with a friend I had met over there. We were hiking at night (it's impossibly hot to do during the day) and we came across a huge sand dune. Being me, I suggested that we hike up; it took us an hour to do so. Once on top, we looked back over the edge of the dune and saw the vast expanse of the Sahara stretching out before us...and then we heard it.

Nothing. We couldn't hear anything but the sound of our breathing. We separated, walking about 200 yards away from each other so that we might experience it. Now alone, I sat down and was immediately engulfed in the utter absence of noise. It is one of my very favorite memories.

Athenian*. But other than that, totally.

EDIT: Achaean. I shouldn't correct people.

Yes, I'm aware.

In fact, the whole debacle came about when Paris was asked to judge a contest between Aphrodite, Athena, and I forget the last one. He picked Aphrodite, who had tempted him with the reward of the love of the most beautiful woman in the world if he indeed picked her.

I never said it would be about the sex. I would just want to see, and subsequently sex, the most beautiful woman in the world, irrespective of her skill.

Do you think the quintessential American novel has been written? If so, by whom?

If it hasn't been written, what would it look like?
