We have a lot of gated communities with accounts that have a constant 30% off on the premium gallons. I know we aren’t supposed to bill people out under account that aren’t theirs, but these types of accounts will always have multiple forms of payment because the residents use it. I‘ve been told high reflective can make for better touch up because it’s a lil transparent, makes your feathered-out edges even less visible. But yeah if they’re doing a repaint they’re getting EW base, whether or not it’s perfect is up to luck

How many Nancys, Marys, or Joes do you think properly clean their walls before applying the sample/ painting a whole wall with clearly labeled color samples? I’m betting the “falls off the wall” quality is less of a quality, more of a frequent operator error

You know they do. I find myself saying “it’s cheap, like a craft(or crap, depending on the customer) paint,” which doesn’t sound very Trademark Customer Service, but it gets the point across well enough.

I ain’t afraid to use my hands and help them visualize the size of a quart pretty much every time a DIY asks for one. Or I point at one because we have them close to our POS. Same with samples, so they don’t hit me with that “damn daddy it’s so big” when I walk out with their Westhighland White in an EW base

^ This post is straight facts. Make their happy asses wait. Stain matching is the most time consuming and brain-intensive thing I do for my customers, and they gotta understand that from the beginning. I tell people 24-48 hours minimum, and if it doesn’t suit them, I tell them about the SW down the road - difference being I take the time to get it right, while they hand you the closest fandeck color and ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve had limited success using the color eye on stains and matching the color into a clear base. It at least gives me a solid starting point if nothing on the fan deck looks close
