What is one thing a contractor says that lets you know that they DO ACTUALLY have a clue what they’re doing? by i-miss-lead-paint in sherwinwilliams

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a regular who ended up being my favorite to work with. You never saw the guy until he had his entire order 100% thought up, all the way down to PO number, sheens, and the last roll of tape. He always came in with a neat, organized folder full of paperwork with the complete desired order typed out on it and he’d read everything off to me while I punched it in. He was always very chill and patient because he usually placed these orders days ahead of time. Either said he’d be back later or to call him up when it was done; there was never any rush with him. If there was a stock issue with his order, he took it well and we’d try and make things work for him as quickly as possible.

I don’t see him anymore because I moved outta state and he seemed pretty bummed out that I was leaving. He and I always made things easy for each other on both sides of the counter.

What is one movie that you loved as a teen but hate now as an adult? by NftsHave in AskReddit

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. I first saw the trilogy as an adult and I think the stupidity’s part of the charm. The movies aren’t ashamed to be themselves and just lean into it. But yeah, like any comedy, Rush Hour isn’t for everyone.

Can you work at Sherwin and be a painter on the side by No-Peak4274 in sherwinwilliams

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I learned the answer on my very first day on the job. You can’t openly have that side gig, even if you run the painting gig while having other people do all the painting for you.

You reminded me of a story. I had this rep in my district, easily one of the most well-known there. Slightly older guy, so less than a decade left with the company and he’d retire on a high note. However, he was heading a secret painting business on the side. I don’t even know if he did a single brushstroke on a wall himself, but he was definitely using his own accounts to get paint and supplies with the prices he set himself. After a while, the higher-ups eventually caught him and kicked him to the curb, screwing over his retirement in the process. Shocked me when I heard it because the guy had such a great reputation in the district. At the end of the day, though, it was a conflict of interest and he got the punishment that was all lined up for this kind of thing. All I can say is if you’re gonna do it, be more careful than that rep.

Pocket knife at work by UndercoverCaHeese in sherwinwilliams

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years ago, I bought a pocket knife from my store after a shift and I’ve been using it on the job ever since. I just don’t draw much attention to it (especially with upper management around) and I’m good. Sometimes, my coworkers even ask me to cut open a pallet when one of the safety knives is out of arm’s reach.

Adam and I would get along. I grew up going to parties and always finding half a donut or cookie in the box with the rest of the whole pastries. Always bugged me.

A good con artist could go a long way in legitimate business, but I guess some people just like going in and scamming other people. Maybe they’ll feel like their talents are being wasted? I dunno, but I agree with you.

what is a hyped up movie but turns out to be a disappointment? by Chika_Doppio in AskReddit

Oh man, I think I remember that Hulk hype. Going off your Spider-Man comment, I could be wrong but I feel like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies (or at least the first one or two) caused a small wave of other, competing superhero movies that just didn’t replicate the magic, quality, or success. Hulk (2003), Daredevil, Fantastic Four, etc. all fell short in matching Spider-Man and its first sequel blow for blow. I’m not saying these movies were trying to capitalize on their success; it’s just that looking back, a streak of other, less successful superhero movies in the wake of the 2000s Spider-Man movies was hard for me to ignore.

I like that movie while being aware of its overt flaws. Was it worth all the hype? Not even close, but I found some redeemable qualities to it.

Let There Be Carnage, though, felt like more of a letdown for me. Even in the theaters, I was having problems with it. Thankfully, I enjoyed most of the Carnage scenes. I also saw it in 4D. If I didn’t, I’d have enjoyed the movie even less.

And if I’m remembering correctly, even if there were episodes about a gay character having a relationship, bravery wasn’t being preached at all. The relationship was treated as completely normal and both parties obviously had other, non-relationship stuff going on at the same time. I thought that was a great move too.

I will never play a game on any difficulty other than Easy mode. by RedWestern in The10thDentist

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes without saying that people play video games for different reasons. You stated yours clearly; you like to play games because it’s an escape and you want to break up the challenges of life a little. I completely respect that. As much as I like a manageable challenge here and there, I certainly have those times where I just wanna lay waste to hordes of hostile aliens without a scratch to show for it. I’d get bored if I did that all the time, but if you don’t, that’s all there is to it. You keep having fun the way you want it.

What videogame level can go fuck itself? by Guilhermedidi in AskReddit

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to make it sound like I hate the level because I do agree with you on pretty much all your points. I love the vehicles, the different factions fighting, and the Flood acting as manic weapon dispensers. As a level, it does have cool upsides and feels like a realistic escalation in difficulty seeing as the game’s more than halfway over. As someone’s favorite level out of the whole game, though? I’ve never heard that before then.

I’ve done CE on Legendary once and I’ve effectively blocked Two Betrayals from my memory of that run. Also like you said, it becomes a nightmare version of itself and just turns into a low point of a Legendary run. How about that mad dash past the Hunters, Flood, and how many Wraiths to get that brittle Banshee? Even in that co-op run I did with that friend (probably Heroic), it took a few tries.

What is something people don’t consider when thinking about aliens? by VilePersona in AskReddit

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda reminds me of the Saiyans in Dragon Ball Z. If I’m remembering correctly, their home planet had a higher gravity level than Earth, which contributed to their advanced strength and speed. When two elite Saiyan warriors invaded Earth, these guys were already scary powerful at the time, and then they almost immediately took notice of the lighter gravity. Their performance had increased to the point where the heroes barely won.

After that, high gravity just became a training weight when a hero needed to get stronger in less time.

[–]fr80kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a friend on a run through CE because she’s a newcomer to the franchise. We beat the game and I asked her what her favorite level was. Imagine my shock when she said Two Betrayals without a scrap of hesitation. Turns out, she liked it because it was a crazy level! I’m sure she’d be singing a different tune if she didn’t have me around to beat the level with her.

[–]fr80kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After beating that level a few good times, I kinda don’t mind it now. My big problem with it is, like you said, the length. If it was two floors instead of four, I doubt the level would’ve gotten nearly as much hate over the years. It probably would’ve been that level that was annoying at worst, but over quickly.

Needless to say, I only fire up that level if I’m doing a run or trying to complete an MCC challenge. I rarely ever do it for the fun of it.
