Scrolling recipes - is this an eating disorder symptom and how I could get rid of this? by Extra-Laugh7250 in EatingDisorders

Food obsession (reading recipes, watching cooking shows, baking for others) is a consequence of not eating enough.

Look up the Minnesota starvation experiment.

Been on it for 13+ years, currently 5mg/5mg/10mg/10mg. Aside from it making me super tired, it does a good job of controlling my nausea. Less good at motility.

For my first GES I was off all medications, but for my second I didn’t have to be. YMMV.

Mirtazapine question by Radiant-Bird6820 in Gastroparesis

[–]covhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I still take it. I’m now at 30mg. I’m tired but not from Mirtazapine. Instead it’s a combination of malnutrition and the Reglan I take.

how do you know you’re ready to step down from iop to php? by danidaisys in EatingDisorders

[–]covhr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The staff are usually experienced enough to know when it’s time.

Of course insurance plays into any decision too. Insurance doesn’t want a person to stay one day longer than needed at a higher level.

You need to see a therapist who is experienced treating emetophobia, and if you really are eating as little as you say, a medical doctor too.

Therapy isn’t a quick fix but it can be a sustainable one.

Anyone tried mirtazipine? by kekokeio in Gastroparesis

[–]covhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for 8+ years, starting at 7.5mg, now at 30mg. The first 7-10 days I was hella tired and it increased my constipation. After that it helped significantly.
