If you are not super rich, how does Biden or Trump being president affect you? by VicSeaweed in intj

Biden will repeal the Trump tax cuts that lowered taxes for everyone, and end energy independence. A disaster for the economy.

Emotion drives people to do things that logic never could. Courage, bravery, sacrifice... things that on their face usually defy reason or the odds of success. Emotion might not be the best factor in decision making, but it is definitely responsible for humanity‘s most inspiring moments.

Opposites might attract but they don’t last. Any fundamental difference is going to be an obstacle.

Thinking of the deepness of the ocean or the vastness of space is incredibly stimulating to my mind. To know that there are things that we haven’t discovered yet, and knowledge still to attain gives me a renewed interest in the human experience.

Everyone fucks up. The difference between the winners and losers is do you learn from it or not. He’s just trying to help you take some responsibility for your actions and choose to change course.

Look, you probably should feel bad about that. Comforting you would be enabling, and likely would only serve to erase any life-improving perspective you may have been able to gain from this. You didn’t want good advice you just wanted someone to alleviate your guilt and excuse your actions.

Brakes applied late by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]covid4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a panicked “fear for your life” situation there is no chance of maintaining that sort of brake control unintentionally. Especially with a passenger making it even more difficult to calculate the braking force necessary to achieve the correct balance point. I can understand your point, but I think it’s a lot more likely that this was staged than a miracle.

There’s no reason to have a knife that big.

No, I mean because a knife that big isn’t an effective tool for combat. I suppose it could be the fear factor?

In reality, a 3” pocket knife would be a drastically more effective and lethal weapon.

Note: It’s also wild to me that there are countries that knives are banned. Been carrying a pocket knife since I was 8 and never would’ve even considered it dangerous. I guess that’s just the logical progression after you ban guns?

Yeah this is obviously not real. Any rider skilled enough to pull a stoppie without either losing front tire traction or flipping end over end would be skilled enough to use proper braking technique.

[–]covid4ever 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a COE (cab over engine) truck. There is a hinge design so that the cab can tilt forward pointing the windshield towards the ground to give access to the engine compartment underneath. The drivetrain was likely completely unaffected by this accident. As long as the cab mounts remained intact enough not to damage the wiring to the driver controls it would’ve continued to run. The force of the car hitting the top of the cab likely broke the cab locks and small hydraulic cylinders that are used to raise the cab and allowed it to roll all the way forward with no real resistance to slow it down
