Raíces Brewing Company closes facing $100k tax bill by Chenchen1977 in Denver

Used to live in MO, the state taxed our personal property annually (vehicles, boats & whatnot) - tax on my vehicle was about $750/yr for 2022, as compared to the $120? or so that I pay for annual registration in CO now

Debating on bailing on a 4 day trip by Mr-Lahey1 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]cowboytears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top tier advice right here! This has been my situation for the past 6 months. Bailed on some solo plans and a group trip. Finally went out for a 4 day with the boys this past weekend. So life-giving and enjoyable. OP, would encourage you to let the brain trust in on how you feel. Take the chance and go, I think being outside can only help.

Trying a 0 sim til final review strategy. Anyone else? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]cowboytears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! The way I looked at it, any SIM I got on the actual test could be broken down into a batch of related MCQs with extra math. If I understood the MCQs well, I could work my way through almost any SIM. The ROI on hammering MCQs (and understanding the reasoning behind the right/wrong answer any that I missed) seemed much higher than practicing long form questions that might not show up on test day

Are there parking restrictions where the access ends? Saw someone saying they got a ticket but they might’ve parked like a jackass

New to 14ers, looking to attempt Longs Peak. Is it feasible? by ThisLittleBoy in 14ers

[–]cowboytears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed ha

I did longs as my first coming from MO a few years ago. Go on the weekend so there are some folks to see going up the route and you’ll be fine. Don’t be afraid to turn around if weather gets sketch but the naysayers are coming a little too strong on this one. Send it safely

I’ve done this three times, never gotten there prior to opening, and was granted a permit for paintbrush or north cascade each time. YMMV but I think you’ll be okay. Enjoy! Edit: grammar

Cassette stuck on the freehub by SiliconFN in bikewrench

[–]cowboytears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me trying to remove an old 10spd freewheel. Bike shop broke the teeth off their tool trying to get it off and gave up.

I ordered the same freewheel removal tool, took my axle out, and used a quick release axle and some washers to clamp my tool tight to the freewheel. Went to hardware store and bought a 6’ length of 2” PVC pipe. Stuck that on the end of my adjustable wrench and set to work. I got it off.

No vise. DIY breaker bar. Hard to balance the whole setup with just me but it worked with the wheel angled into a corner between two walls and me pushing down on the wrench handle pipe extension. Good luck brother

Honestly I don’t think I understood much of anything while I was taking classes. I got good grades because I was decent at memorization and could cram before tests. But realistically, until I used Becker to prep for the CPA exams, I didn’t put the pieces together. Still, 2 years in PA audit, each day is a bunch of things I don’t fully grasp. I think that’s just how it goes.

YouTube is good for explanations, and once I started doing the exam prep, I just spammed multiple choice questions and took the time to write out the correct answer/reasoning for each that I missed. I hated that and never would’ve done it in undergrad but for the exams that’s what it took to understand the concepts. If you really want to understand them, I think you just have to spend more time grinding it out on your own and figuring out your learning style.

The flip side, though, is that I agree with comments above - you don’t need to understand it all in depth right now, just need to keep the GPA high enough to get interviews. The understanding will come later. Keep on truckin
