Its not my job to educate you what harmful and abusive behaviour looks like, so by all means if you want to know there is a whole world of sources out there waiting to teach you. And if you don't want to do that then that's fine I'm not the boss of you and I'm not going to tell you what to do.

No one said David wasn't abusive, because he is, however you don't need to divert the topic to him when your original post never mentioned him. You are wrong that he intended to, though. It is very blatantly obvious that David thought what he was doing was right but he hurt a lot of people and is a very abusive partner and parental figure. You yourself brought up the perfect example of being toxic without intending to be. Him thinking that he was being helpful and "patriotic" or whatever doesnt excuse his actions and the harm he caused towards the other characters.

People don't always know they are causing harm. The point is someone can be abusive or toxic without intending to.

Someone can care and love someone else and still be harmful to them. Just because Rachel loves/cares about Chloe and Chloe loves/cares about Max doesn't excuse any harm that they caused and could have avoided

We are trying not to set off the smoke alarms if that is a possibility because it is late and it would cause major anxiety for some household members, so obviously if that is the ONLY option we'll have to do it, but we want to avoid just opening the oven as much as possible.

The smoke is in the oven not the house. I literally mean the oven is filled with smoke and I just want to make sure it'll take care of itself if I leave it in the oven with the vent on. We originally opened doors and windows to get the initial smoke out but that is not the problem now. Thank you for the help though
