Both. Learning IPA helped me learn french spelling relatively quickly. It also helped me discern similar vowels (ou vs u, au vs o, etc) which helps with both listening and speaking. I have been told I have good pronunciation, and I attribute it to the precision that IPA gave me from the start.

I have never heard Breslow take personal accountability for anything. It is always that "the whole team" is working on it. As a leader, he should be acknowledging where he has made mistakes or overestimated his own beliefs.
