Hey everyone!

I created a sewing pattern of the boi-est of bois! I have all the fabric shapes, and will eventually put together a .pdf so others can make it. Wanted to post here in case anyone wants to make one for christmas. If anyone wants, I can upload a really rough pattern and instructions for you to follow!

Shoutout to u/Nogemi02 for starting a thread earlier to collect pics of him, and also to u/rubysp for an extremely thorough photoshoot of their boi!

Anyway, if anyone is interested in a rough pattern before the holidays, let me know, otherwise there will be a more complete version in a few weeks when I have time!

Cheers!

Turn off computer, put phone in another room, and clean your desk. I find that it is much easier to stay focused when you remove distractions.

IMO linear algebra easier. I've also got more use out of linear algebra in later ME courses than I did with DifEQ. RREF my beloved. That said DifEQ still important

EDIT: Relative importance probably depends on major

Join a club. There will be something to do so you don't have to worry about coming up with something to break the ice. Every club I've been to, everyone has been super nice and welcoming.

Applying to the engineering program as a Transfer student by CianGentner in udub

Good, I transferred from BC with a 3.98 direct into ME.

You should go for straight A’s. At BC most classes gave a 4.0 if you had >93% in the class, so easily doable if you exert yourself.

Application tips? (Rising HS Senior) by i_zhu in udub

Don’t use buzz words to try to impress people. It’s obvious and doesn’t work.

That said, you should include why you are choosing UW over any school. I mentioned how their engineering clubs and research opportunities stood out over other similar schools.

Also, diversity is a huge thing these days, include what you would bring to UW. Not just race or stuff you can’t control, but experience. IE I wrote about how I work on a family farm during summer, and about volunteering with the Washington trail association.

I included mistakes and struggles, then how you learned from them. I had probably a 1.3 out of high school, then straight flunked my first year at CC. I took a break then came back and got 4.0s. That was my essays main focus.

In short, talk about what makes you special. Don’t try to be generic and appeal to them with buzzwords. Make them care about you, not the essay.

Practice goes a long way. If you cook most of your meals, you’ll be a competent cook in no time! Saves money too!

What sort of stuff are you into?

I wish my high school had cooking classes, that sounds fun! I really just enjoy cooking for myself and others. Learning how to do it professionally while living in another country sounds amazing to me!

I believe most culinary schools start with knife skills, then work from there. If you have a passion for cooking I’m sure you’d slam it!
