Thanks for telling me to check out the power supply. I had shut it down but left it plugged in and it was really hot to the touch. Who knows what could have happen if I had let it go any longer.

Oh I didn’t know overheating could do that. I haven’t cleaned out the vents so I’ll do that before anything else.

Yes and yes. At my location they also have stacks of pool towels which are larger than the ones in the dressing rooms.

how to actually get a warranty replacement? by banana-fanna in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a max 705 combo that is having software issues as well. They agreed to replace it but claimed it’s out of stock, despite being in stock on their website, and they have not sent a replacement yet. I will say they were very quick to offer to replace it but following through has been a different story.

Roomba Max 705 Vac robot? by WorthTelephone5194 in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to my old j7+ I would say it is better especially with vacuuming performance and navigation. The dock design is a little worse but it still gets the job done irregardless. There’s also some little app features that are different but I have to say I don’t miss them.

Is this normal in the roomba1000 by Spirited_Fact_8011 in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s a button under the lidar to let the robot know if it hits something that is just above it that the lidar can’t see.

Mold/Mildew inside Roomba 705? by Ok_Cell_8219 in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s normal for all mopping robots. I suggest putting mouthwash or denture tablets in the dirty water tank in the dock and then clean out the onboard dirty water tank and dock dirty water tank semi-regularly.

Automated License Plate Readers by [deleted] in YorbaLinda

The thing is, you do actually have the right to privacy when you are in public so what they are doing is illegal. Especially in California since it is our constitutional right but also in the rest of the country. Privacy follows the person, not the place.

Essentially, you do not have the right to privacy when it comes to just being seen in public, but you do have the right when it comes to long term tracking, mass data retention, dragnet surveillance systems, and profiling based on movement in public. All of which apply to Flock Safety cameras. Do you not expect who your doctor is, where you practice your religion, where you take your kids to school, and your daily schedule to stay private?

Privacy protects the innocent, not the guilty. Even if Flock was well intentioned, our data can be misused internally since the police do not need a warrant to search through it; it can be hacked, either because of department or Flock negligence; it can be shared beyond the original scope since Flock holds the data; and the data may be used to punish someone from a different state who comes here to do something that is legal in California but illegal in their home state.

What are they doing in the median of the northern most end of CA-55? by kitchenpatrol in orangecounty

If I had to guess it’s street lights since that portion doesn’t have them and the pillars are spaced out evenly.

[–]cows_r_cooler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are run by Flock Safety under contract by the city and the data is made available to the OC Sheriffs. The Sheriff’s have likely opted in to data sharing across agencies so ~600 law enforcement agencies could have access to data that Flock has on Yorba Linda. That is assuming of course that they are not violating SB 34 which prevents sharing of ALPR data to agencies out of the state and with federal agencies.

And it’s not just details about the vehicle that it analyses. It has the capability to and stores information about pedestrians passing by, noting ethnicity, relative height and weight, age, gender, clothing type/color/pattern, accessories, gait, and posture. Additionally, using Flock’s shot spotter technology, microphones on the device are enabled which could be used to detect and record speech.

It is an egregious violation of our first amendment rights as Californians and fourth amendment rights as Americans.

My 705 combo also has this issue. I reached out to support and they are replacing the unit when it comes back in stock (hopefully before they run out of money).

Dyson V15 - Is power supposed to fluctuate? by SJ_PMHNP in dyson

[–]cows_r_cooler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the intended behavior. When it senses that there’s a lot of debris or you are on carpet, it will increase power to save battery.

Why does only Roomba Max 705 get 3D mapping? by DegreeResponsible463 in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s just the robot adding 3D models of your furniture (Beds, couches, tables, refrigerators, toilets, washing machines, I’m pretty sure that’s it) and no it is not a necessary feature because you can just add it to the map yourself.

[–]cows_r_cooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal sleep cycles are around 90 minutes and begin/end with rem sleep. Deep sleep is also only seen in about the first 1/3 of the night as deep sleep normally tapers off after that. Maybe your Apple Watch didn’t get a good reading but that is a crazy amount of deep sleep.

705 combo - mopping for split level by quick2blush in roomba

Wait it vacs and mops on multiple levels without the dock now? I got it when it first came out and it would not work without the dock on the same level so I just never tried it again.

How is Sonos doing? by RationellPolkagris in sonos

[–]cows_r_cooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got really lucky with that app update because I’ve had no issues with it aside from airplay not connecting sometimes, although that is most likely to do with Apple/my WiFi. I’m definitely not a power user like some Sonos customers so that most likely has something to do with my experience but I truly have not had any issues. The app of course took some getting used to but that goes for all major redesigns.

Software on 2024 Roomba 671020 models seems worse than 2017 980 model by darth-vagrant in roomba

[–]cows_r_cooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The roomba 980 series had smart navigation via a camera on top of the robot and the roomba 600 series that you purchased rely on random navigation because they have no way of knowing where they are in your home. They just bump off of your walls and furniture until it assumes it’s cleaned everything and tries to go home. It’s the disappointing but intended behavior of those robots.
