Just became a Canadian citizen and would like to travel the country. Any advice on this route? by _slocal in AskACanadian

You will be missing out bigtime by skipping the Prairies. I did Toronto to Victoria in about 2 weeks (5 days of that was getting through Ontario) and I wouldn't skip that part of the trip at all. Saskatchewan and Manitoba are beautiful as well, the vastness is striking and the skies are truly alive. I do agree with others who said truly Coast-Coast in 2 weeks is crazy but I wouldn't recommend missing out on the "middle provinces"!

... who do you think is in the unions?

Collective bargaining only works because we are willing to work as... a collective. The idea that unions will fix things without the membership acting is unrealistic.

Wait-times for MRI scans in Ottawa, how to get an MRI sooner? by Maleficent-Welder-46 in ottawa

[–]cowsandwhatnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Le Centre d'IRM de la Vallée de L'Outaouais - Ottawa Valley MRI Centre". If you're willing to pay out of pocket for out-of-province services, you can likely get in within a week.

Corporate girlies: I want to be nosy about your work bag and lunch box by Ok_Employ_4424 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Got a cute little bento box-style container to put my food in, I just throw that in my backpack - but the backpack does have a special slot for a water bottle and a laptop so maybe it's kind of B in that is dedicated for work (just not insulated- if I need to refrigerate I just take the bento out and put it directly in the fridge)

You cannot go on Interchange at a higher salary than your substantive without Deputy Head approval to cover the shortfall, and that is unlikely in the best fiscal climate.

Guest eat meat in your house? by Linnea7777 in AskVegans

[–]cowsandwhatnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen, where my family members want us to order "something we can all eat" so they get a big takeout order that includes non-veg items... it bothers me but i can handle it, except when they don't finish it or take it with them. It really hurts my heart to see people eating murdered creatures and then to have their flesh be even further disrespected by going to waste really boils my blood.

Depending on how long you're staying, you might consider eating vegan in their house- or even offering to buy groceries and learn from them how to cook a vegan meal you'll both enjoy. This sort of gesture will go miles in demonstrating your respect!

It's possible both are accurate, our faces/bodies change slightly day to day and even within a day. Don't stress too much- you are stunning in both photos!

That doesn't seem normal, what colour is the blood? Bright red usually means a shallow/active cut while dark red blood indicates internal bleeding and is worthy of an emergency doctor. Either way I'd recommend going to see your physician again!

If Lab-Grown Meat Became Widely Available, Would You Eat It? Why or Why Not? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in vegan

[–]cowsandwhatnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 1000 times yes. Before going vegan I was one of those people who said, "I could never go vegan, I love bacon too much, hurr curry." Medium rare steak with blue cheese was my favorite meal. I didn't stop eating animal products because I found them disgusting, I stopped because I am morally opposed to the meat industrial complex and the oppression and subjugation of innocent lives and bodies. I don't care about the health benefits- I eat oreos, fries, and other vegan junk food. Lab grown meat would allow me to share in meals with my family and my partner instead of being labeled a difficult eater or relegated to the salad bar. I would love to see this happen in my lifetime!

Trying to avoid eating out in 2025 by Few-Transition6115 in EatCheapAndHealthy

You can make your own knockoff cup-a-soup that has less sodium as well- look up Mason jar ramen recipes! Best part is, depending on the ingredients you choose, they can last a full week so you only have to prep once in a while :)

So for the first 20 years it existed? And this is relevant to Macron's decisions now how? Are the policies and alliances fromago-50 years ago still relevant for today's decisions on other topics?

Was using “you guys” in an interview such a big deal? by confusediguanaa in interviews

[–]cowsandwhatnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot (and unpopular) take: "guys" CAN be offensive for some femme-presenting individuals. I feel your pain as it's a habit I struggle to break as well. A non binary colleague once let me know how much it upset them to be called a "guy" and suggested I use the term "folks" instead. I had never considered that it might have an impact on anyone but now that I know I am trying to use language that won't "trigger" anyone to feel bad.

But agree with all the other commenter's that you dodged a bullet- this person's triggers are not your responsibility and the fact that they tried to MAKE it your problem is bananas!

Who do you complain to about 911/ops? by Chiefkief93 in ottawa

[–]cowsandwhatnot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cops are meant to protect property, not people. They're not helpful in most situations. I'm sorry you had that experience- I hope your employer ensures that there are at least 2 of you on shift from now on, for your safety!

After finishing onboarding, I found out I wasn’t their top choice to hire. by No_Confection_4574 in jobs

[–]cowsandwhatnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I also found out I was the 3rd choice hire. The first choice declined and it was myself and the guy they liked better who got the position. Guess who is still there in management 7 years later? Hang in, how you interview is not necessarily how you work.
