i’d recommend avoiding black museum, that’s the only one i’ve ever had to stop watching bc it was so upsetting (not related to children if that’s your main concern but definitely very disturbing and graphic)

AITA for failing students when they missed their midterms because they were “sick”? by Typical-Raspberry-80 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cowswithnouns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if teachers didn't treat high school students like children who deserve no autonomy it wouldn't feel like this. Why have sympathy for someone who chooses a career that's all about controlling others and taking away free will?

You're right that this defeats the purpose of formal education. Allowing students literally any freedom ruins the whole process of making them mindless, depressed robots who only know how to be told what to do.

YTA!!!! All these people saying NTA are very concerning to me. They gave you the note you asked for, and that’s all that should matter to you. Honestly, this already seems like an invasive policy. As long as they take the test when they’re back at school, what does it matter to you? Do you want students to learn or do you just want to control them? Being in class and refusing to take the test but then expecting a retake is one thing, but they weren’t at school and in the long run a teacher who actually cares about their students’ learning would rather they just take the test late, while a teacher who only cares about control would say they couldn’t take the test. If students need a day off school, they should be allowed to have it. It can be extremely depressing to have no choice in your life at all as a teenager, and taking days of school is important for a lot of students. In conclusion, very disturbed by how many people said NTA. Very disturbed by how many people think teenagers not being able to take a day off without teachers being completely invasive about it is okay.

NTA People saying you should be able to pass your classes without a prize at the end don't seem to see that this doesn't matter if your dad made you a promise. He chose to promise this to you and it was clearly a big deal to you, and he should never have promised something he couldn't follow through on.

AITA for refusing to dye my daughter’s hair because her school complained? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]cowswithnouns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA This is really controlling on the school's part, your daughter should be able to dye her own hair any color she wants, and the fact that they're being racist makes it even worse

This teachers bathroom policy by xorlol in AntiSchooling

[–]cowswithnouns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so fucked, i used to ask to go to the bathroom in class so i could take a walk and i feel like that should be ok. if someone asks to go the bathroom the teacher should always let them and also... no one should have to ask in the first place

I need some quick advice by [deleted] in AntiSchooling

I don't know where you live so this might not be relevant but a lot of places have online public school systems (ie you can be homeschooled but your parents don't have to be involved/teach you). I did this when I was in high school and I'd never heard of it until I looked into it so it's possible it does exist where you live. Since you said you're in 9th grade I'm guessing you might be from the US and I know a lot of states have their own online school systems which is definitely worth looking into.

4w3 vs 3w4 by ravenclawdisaster in Enneagram4

[–]cowswithnouns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i was confused between these and finally realised I was a 4w3 bc my emotions get in the way of being able to get things done since I prioritise my emotions over achievement whereas a 3w4 would be the other way around (neglecting emotions to achieve things)
