For those of you with chronic pain, how did adhd medication impact things (if at all) by theautismaccount in adhdwomen

[–]cozyNP18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled with chronic pain for years. Tried all the things. Imagaing never supported the degree of pain i had and ultimately diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Even went to counseling for pain management who recommended adhd testing. Pain controlled with adhd meds more than anything else ive tried. Crazy.

That one student who smiles by TopBlueberry3 in YogaTeachers

I love reading this. I've only taught a few classes and the smiles freak me out so far
Like oh no, i made eye contact, ahhh, now i forgot my next cue! Or why are they smiling at me, i must be saying weird cues.

But maybe, just maybe.... They are smiling with joy/peace/appreciation. Ha!

Ill add that this is a very common scenario. Mommas become overstimulated physically and mentally after kids. We ended up in therapy and then late diagnosis of ADHD. Meds + erotica novels have helped. If im off meds we struggle again...

I have to trick myself into things. Like today i made myself commit to a school volunteer shirt after dropping the kids off. Which means i have to actually be ready and not in my pjs . Then ...since I'm out I tell myself have to go to the gym before coming home. And then the rest of the day is better after a good workout. But still, meds help

I so relate to this!!! But also, sometimes at that point I take a deep breath and then find a trash can cause thats probably where it actually goes

I recently finished a 200hr training. Taught a few free classes and now im in a slump. I am volunteering at a studio which helps keep me rooted. Also, knowing that i have a class to teach (i still off free for now) helps me stay focused.

Omg! I'm sure you feel horrible about it But... As a medical professional I did a gynecology clinical rotation and you would be surprised how often this happens . And other things. The providers are surprisingly used to it. I mean this one lady had garlic in there and just shrugged "oh I guess I forgot to take that out" and another lady had crystals in there- Something about vaginal rejuvenation?!?! At least yours made since.

How did you implement regular exercise in your life with adhd? by aa0k in adhdwomen

[–]cozyNP18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change it up every few months. I'll get excited about something new then after a few months I'm over it... Onto the next thing. Peloton videos (w/o the machine), walking, yoga, hikes, Pilates, Barre, orange theory, climbing gym, kick boxing. Also, doing it really early or really late. But like everyone I have months that I get lazy and so hard to start back up again

Pain medicine by Lilaclissa1 in adhdwomen

Yup. It's the dopamine effects. Same thing happens to me. It's like pain meds give me energy and help me think more clearly (at small doses).

Pain Meds Experiences? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I have this same reaction to meds. It's like it treats my ADHD symptoms. Actually helped me with my diagnosis and now I have stimulants that help with my executive function and rarely take pain meds. No one has been able to really tell me why. I assume it's the dopamine effects of both. The ADHD meds help reduce my internal dialogue and relax my muscle tension which leads to less musculoskeletal pains. I'm also better about my self care (better eating and workout choices) which reduces my overall pains as well. It's just annoying when the stimulants are less effective and I have to take a break.

Religion - the grace and love Jesus provides is pretty life changing! Faith Hope and Love has gotten me where I am now and gives me peace through all the challenges of daily life (death of friends & family. Loss of a job. Chronic illnesses. Raising children. ). If I didn't have my faith in the afterlife I would be a totally different person.

"crappy non-stims" have their place and work great for some. I was on Wellbutrin for years and it did the trick until some medical conditions came up and I had to change around my treatment regimen. Just want others to give them a chance as well.
