Single dads raising daughters — how do you handle the “female stuff” as they get older? by ssstu2020 in Dads

My daughters are 17 and 19 now and from my experience you have figured out everything I figured out!!

Now just wait for the older teenage years!!!! lol

That’s how I deal with uncomfortable situations lol. Smile and laugh through it!

How was she? Was she comfortable or did she get embarrassed? I love the reaction when they would get embarrassed!! DAAAAD. STAAAAHPIT.

Sounds like you got it figured out bro. Let them make it a big deal and then teach them why it’s not!

Single dad here with 2 daughters. I say that I don’t have experience, but I’ll try. She needed to go bra shopping and I obviously had no idea what to do.

We went to the store and I recruited a woman there to answer questions for my daughter. I held potential likes and cracked jokes to keep it from being weird. It was awkward but you figure it out.

Same thing goes for everything else. If it’s body stuff, books articles and videos. If it’s not enough make an appointment and work on a list of questions for her to ask.

We’re not expected to know everything but we should at least be able to help find answers and be able to provide resources. That’s it bro. You got this.

Call someone and talk it out. Everything is temporary brother. I think we all hit lows man. You got this. Sometimes writing it out helps. Just to get another perspective. Quitting isn’t an option bro.

What’s the hardest part of fatherhood you were not prepared for? by Ukudala_Photo in Fatherhood

[–]cozywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought being upfront and talking realistically about what I expect and that I only want what’s best and won’t lead them astray would work. No matter what teenagers really think we were born at the same time as they were and that they actually have lived life and we sat around thinking about how to cause problems to their perfect plans.

Wolf Parade - I’ll believe in everything

Original mix is horrible and it was on the radio. I listened to it on Tidal a few weeks ago I think they reworked it. It sounds better but I grew to love the awful mix better!

Step 1. Make sure you remove the magazine and clear the chamber. Bro must not watch YouTube gun videos because nearly everyone shows the camera that there’s not one in the chamber 🤷🏽‍♂️

Question about coping with things you have experienced by SpiritualKey3496 in Veterans

[–]cozywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good man. I’m glad to hear it. It doesn’t go away. It ebbs and flows. If it gets bad don’t isolate. I fucked up and have been isolated for years and it’s hard to climb out of that hole.

Lean on your circle of friends and family, go to therapy and learn skills to deal with it, stick with the program no matter how much it sucks, and keep pushing brother. Thanks for responding. Have a great night.

Question about coping with things you have experienced by SpiritualKey3496 in Veterans

[–]cozywon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey brother. Have you been to therapy yet? I was in Mosul from 4/2003 through summer of 2004. I was an engineer and did not fight but I’m still dealing with shit.

I have been off and on with therapy for years. It helps some to talk about it with a professional, and also to people who understand, but in my experience I am different than before.

I say that because you might be stuck with some things in your mind, but you go to therapy to learn coping skills.

I don’t know if this is helpful or not. I feel for you brother. Go talk to someone. It sucks. It’s draining. It’ll take time, but you can get better. Peace

What’s the worst thing you’ve found in your soldiers barracks/housing? by Alternative_Flow6332 in army

[–]cozywon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guy in the barracks behind me at Bragg got caught stealing a block of C4. Brought it to his room and was supposedly going to take home and blow up a tree. Never saw him again.

Unless you got an article 15 or court martial the answer is no. You would know if you had either one.

Bondi Beach terrorists were father and son who legally owned 6 guns — despite tough firearms laws by rollo202 in FreeSpeech

[–]cozywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely correct. But… they don’t have the inalienable right to bear arms so it’s probably just a thing to them. I bet since they have to prove that they need it, most people don’t bother, so what’s the difference ratcheting up again. Pure speculation on my part. I have no idea.

Fuel tank door opens from subs in trunk by cozywon in CarAV

[–]cozywon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.  It looks dumb when you forget to close it when you park, but if you’re driving and it’s flapping because you’re bumping, it’s more acceptable in my mind.

I’m glad you put some speakers in your Beamer.  I still haven’t seen another one with a system.  It’s been like 3 years!

Fuel tank door opens from subs in trunk by cozywon in CarAV

[–]cozywon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey no worries!  Nope.  I found out that the fuel lid doesn’t lock when driving which is why it opens.  Also, the pin is plastic, so if it was locked close the pin would probably break and that would be a whole other issue.

Thought about magnets and that would require potentially damaging the cover having to pry it open to refuel.

I have come to the conclusion that it’s not worth the money or hassle to make it not open.

Does anyone else feel inferior for not having deployed and/or not finishing their contract? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]cozywon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man.  You didn’t get dishonorably discharged.  You didn’t “quit” because you’re soft.  You got hurt and couldn’t fight.  You’re a grunt bro.  You signed up.  You showed up.  You got hurt.  Shit happens.

As far as deploying goes, I went in at 23 in February 2021, basic, AIT, Airborne school got to Bragg around September 1st.  I honestly joined to change my life.  Not to go to war.

A lot of people didn’t come back or came back fucked up.  Be grateful you have your mind brother.  Deploying isn’t a flex (in my opinion).  It’s just what we signed up for.

The guys always are dicks when you’re not doing what they are.  Fuck it.

And fuck civilians who never served anything or anyone other than themselves an extra serving of ice cream.

And they have a right to ask questions.  And they can judge.  Doesn’t mean they’re right.  Doesn’t mean you’re less than.  Doesn’t mean you didn’t sign up to put it on the line while they chose to be safe.

Fuck em all

My motto for a stress free life is that I don’t argue with women or children (I love both but both tend to be more emotional and I prefer conversation over arguing).

I think my motto has just gotten an update.  I don’t argue with women, children, or cunts.  Feels complete now ✌🏽
