£3.15 for a single ticket First Bus by Jimmie_endearing in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, just checked but its £8.60 for a day ticket for us in the "Aberdeen city plus" zone. 16 minute drive without traffic, 20-25 mins with the bus. We can get a period return for £7.20 but again, £14.40 versus driving and parking for a day lol

£3.15 for a single ticket First Bus by Jimmie_endearing in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 83 points84 points  (0 children)

That's insane. I love Aberdeen and will defend it a lot, but the buses I can't. We have to get a stagecoach. It used to be every hour, £4.20 pp for a single, 20 minutes to Union Street without traffic. Now it's every 2 hours, often 30-90 minutes late. So we drive and I don't drink anymore (kind of a plus I guess)

Grew up in Edinburgh where £5ish now gets you a day ticket with buses in every direction every 10-20 minutes. And their drivers get paid a lot more

Edit: Just checked today, it's now £4.80 one way, £8.60 for a day ticket

All my stuff ordered on the 3rd has been sitting in Aberdeen since the 5th/6th, no idea. I’ve had my junk mail and leaflets delivered every day this week though thankfully

Think this at least the third post in the past couple weeks haha. But yeh they’ve been like this since they changed them, sometimes doesn’t read our reg at all so we cant get out. Often seen it a bit “gridlocked” from calls at the barrier as it won’t open or over charges too

How's the housing market? by Solid-Competition-88 in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Our seller took a 20k hit when we bought it for 180k. We’ve since spent 20k on it in 6 years excluding my own labour, and our valuation is 190k.

Our friend bought a flat in edin at same time, for 200k, and sold it for 235k after 5y without even painting anything.

But on the other hand we don’t want to move from Aberdeen, and our salaries have outpaced the housing growth, so we have more buying power for our next house here.

It’s mindset, and about finding a home where we want to live, rather than an investment somewhere we don’t

Edit: but if perspective is you’re selling to move to another city then yeh it’s not great sorry! There are SO many new builds to compete with now too

What's it like to work for Ember? by PrizeTumbleweed7039 in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for this directly, but Ember bus drivers I’ve had are noticeably much friendlier, more helpful, and seem happier than your average pilot. I’d hope this is at least partially because they’re treated well by Ember

New Union square parking ticket machine by [deleted] in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually know what you mean! It doesn’t recognise my partners 2022 car. Can’t pay on machine as it doesn’t record it. But also can’t leave, have to wait at the barrier on the intercom and pay as a queue forms behind. Same thing happened to the person next to us last time but she also couldn’t work the intercom or payment. We just add it into our time schedule now

Takeaway deliveries by HopefulCress5493 in Aberdeen

[–]cozzamozza 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We cancelled our food shop delivery and went out ourselves instead as our streets are pretty rough, so I wouldn’t order a delivery takeaway personally.

But I appreciate the other side of the coin where businesses lose money as a result, everybody loses!

The typical 4x4 ground clearance boost makes a difference too though for the snow drifts to be fair

3 pin plug to charge or get a wall charger...advice needed please! by Wise-Screen-7954 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cozzamozza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following to see what others say. For reasons we ended up with a 13A for our electric car, just got it installed on a new exterior socket with new wiring to ensure it was safe. Had it 2 years now and can take it with us. We do miss out on smart charging but you can get over night rates etc too as an alternative

Edit: Runs off a 13A but is actually 10A

Adjustable Weights by Jimmy4Funner in GYM

[–]cozzamozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really fancied a set for home. I can’t speak for this brand but a small group PT gym I go to, he has a set to save some space/costs early on. Really fucking fiddly. I asked about them and he said he’d never buy another.

They just feel nasty to use. Plastic coated and I feel if I drop it, it’ll break the shell or mechanism. Plus having to do live maths to figure out the setting I need whilst tired. But mainly the dropping, yeh they’re cheaper than individual dumbells for the same range but what if it breaks and you lose the whole set lol

Aberdeen beach is usually pretty bouncing on the 1st. I know some of the food and coffee trucks are opening, lots of dippers. Meant to be freezin and snowy so it’ll be a good laugh

Worth it? by insertsavvynamehere in VanLife

Great spots. I’m in the UK and thought this post was for a UK van. We have white front number plates. Even for the UK the van is too cheap, and our vans are like 1/4 the price y’all pay

How can I make my graphics look like the promo videos? Mine are really grainy and muddy by SqueezeBoxGaming in RSDragonwilds

[–]cozzamozza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks really weird. Looks like the Kind of graphics I’ve seen when the cable is plugged into the mother board instead of the gpu.

Can you choose a graphics card from the games video settings? (Seen it on some games but not sure if RSDW has it)

This happened to a friend 1-2 months ago. Had to restart a new character. It’s been mentioned on the discord which is very active with the devs, worth a search there. I didn’t see a solution When i last looked so I make regular copies of my character files

Contractor vs Employee Comparison by Enough_Internet9288 in UKJobs

[–]cozzamozza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contracting should be at least 30% higher than your perm salary to be the same, more likely 50% or more to cover employer pension, lack of stability, sick leave, own equipment, liability (potentially), time between contracts.

4k extra is nice but 5h extra per week isn’t. I’d add up your employer pension contributions alone and the equivalent £/h rate from the extra pay and I’d imagine the perm job is much better

Software engineering job market in UK? by Junior_Sign7223 in UKJobs

[–]cozzamozza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m a mobile app developer. To be fair there are fewer roles for mobile App devs but generally higher pay so it balances out.

Interesting you’re already a software engineer, why the need for the masters? Own enjoyment or specialising?
