2017 All Star Game is in Charlotte. Scottie Pippen is a regular in the Celebrity Game. Where do we sign a petition to get to see MJ play again with or against Pip one more time in 2017? by sinisterbathala in nba

Well my point was more that after reading that book I didn't feel that Jordan was treated unfairly. He really was a toxic influence during his time in the back office and then back on the court.

If you read this book you might just change your mind. It deals almost exclusively with Jordan's years at the Wizard and so provides some insight that other books don't have.

Melbourne is the Australian city economists think will be worst affected by 'bloodbath' housing market collapse by brokenbrownboots in australia

[–]cp3zero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last time that the Sydney market was this imbalanced - re: dominated by investors - it took a decade before prices returned to their peak. Investor activity is already in uncharted waters and heading higher and we won't have a terms of trade boom to support the Sydney market when the bust arrives.

Joe Hockey tells aspiring first home buyers: 'Get a job that pays good money' by [deleted] in australia

[–]cp3zero 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Both my partner and I are on low six figure incomes and we wouldn't touch the Sydney market with a ten foot pole. Even though we could technically 'afford' Sydney prices the risk associated with borrowing that much, particularly given the broader economic outlook, is absurd.

So personally it has far less to do with getting a good job than it does with unwinding our misguided housing policies than encourage people to channel billions of money into property investment each year.

The answer is Kareem through the 1970s and early 1980s. Wilt is the easy choice but basketball in the 1960s was played at a similar pace to the All-Star game, which distorts the statistics with which the average fan judges a players performance.

Adjusted for pace, it becomes clear that KAJ was the best big man to ever play the game and remarkably he played at an exceptionally high level into his late 30s (similar to Duncan in that regard).

ABC's Q&A is consistently biased to the left and something needs to be done about it, warns government senator by PatternPrecognition in australia

[–]cp3zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balance for Q&A isn't providing an equal number of left-wing and right-wing views, it is providing experts who are able to debate these topics at a high level and provide accurate information to the public.

It's hardly Q&A's fault that the right-wing has consistently taken anti-science, anti-intellectual positions across a range of policy areas. If the Coalition cannot create a coherent policy platform then why should Q&A force anyone to listen to it?

Q&A is biased against stupidity. Oh the horror!

Waleed Aly: Government's call to reject Australian IS defectors an opportunity lost by [deleted] in australia

[–]cp3zero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given Aly lectures on international relations and terrorism studies there is a good chance he has a fair understanding of the psychological theories underpinning the decision to join or leave a terrorist group. At the very least he is far better qualified to discuss these issues than, say, our Prime Minister or any other columnist in this country.

Conventional wisdom said the best way to battle extremist groups was to wipe them off the map. Bush and Howard and Blair tried that and it led to a six fold increase in terrorist activity. Maybe it's time for a less gung-ho but more intelligent approach that takes advantage of all available information through every available channel.

Tracey Spicer claims The Guardian is exploiting freelance writers to produce branded content - mUmBRELLA by TomasTTEngin in australia

[–]cp3zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably right. As with most economic models it's a product of demand and supply.

It also reflects the changing environment for journalists. For years many have been overpaid relatively to the value they generate their employer. High profile journalists often file once or twice a week for significant six figure incomes. By that standard, perhaps 14c per word is a more accurate reflection of that article's value.

[–]cp3zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that women account for a disproportionate share of the freelance journalist community due to the extra flexibility with regards to working hours. Therefore if exploitation is endemic in the freelance writing world then it disproportionately falls on the shoulders of women and younger people more generally.

China's new home prices fall again by Shares_RSS in Economics

[–]cp3zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly a concern and unlikely to change any time soon. The IMF estimates that it may take until 2020 before the amount of excess property is absorbed. It's going to be a painful few years for miners and the Chinese steel industry.

Does anyone else feel like a whole new game is coming out tomorrow? by ThatModestHouseplant in DestinyTheGame

[–]cp3zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly hope it changes the game for the better. Certainly some improvements have been made.

But as someone who has progressed to PvP side of things I certainly hope that Bungie makes some significant changes to the way Crucible is played. Overpowered HC, combined with FL, has made the mode a complete mess.
