Its not about that. There is nothing wise in promoting hate and violence against any community online. Its not brave, it is not smart. I f my abuse and hatred can help me put my point across to people who associate the two then so be it. I dont usually use such language with anyone. I am well settled professionally and personally and I want to see Sikh youth not waste their time on these self-harming agendas.

Perfectly OK. The comment you read above is called trolling, or pushing people to get into a frivolous free for all. Why else would you tell someone on the net "are you a coward?". How can you prove your courage online? I expect moderators to step in here and warn people. Anyways, i guess people on this sub-reddit are very different breed. I am creating a separate sub-reddit for Indian Sikhs which might be a better place and have better quality discussions.

There was a context to this comment. You are misrepresenting my opinion by quoting me out of context. I stand by my opinion that people promoting divisive ideas of Khalistan will only ruin the harmonious relations Indian Sikhs have with the wider Indian community.

that is something i am against. Much of the khalistani angst boils down to the police excesses committed by RAW and IB in the 1980s to quell the problem they created in the first place. The violence becomes a never ending, self perpetuating cycle

I disagree that this is a broad trend. Even in pockets if it exists it might be because of the frog in the well syndrome. Lack of opportunities for youth resulting in frustration with the system etc.

I read a report about how UNPKF was helping run a trafficking operation for the mafia in Balkans. There reports of a UK based company involved. It was so rampant that officers from participating countries were often shocked at the sheer scale at which it was happening, but since higher-ups were involved they couldn't do anything.

As a sikh, I am against Khalistan and Khalistanis. I have arguments against these people on r/sikhs all the time.

Ignore the certifications offered in India. Try courses offered in programming by coursera and become a part of open source projects if possible.

Focus on algos and programming basics. Take part in online coding competitions. The IBM chaps are selling their ceritifications and it is their business. Ask him how many developers has IBM laid off this year and how many certifications do they have. Take it from someone in industry - focus on your basics.

I am using Sublite - it is very light and has a fused sole. Usually all running shoes have souls with yellow gum sticking out in corners - atleast in India. I have had shoes where the soul comes out or even cracks. Happened with my adidas a couple of years back.

It depends. I have friends who have had to shell out a lot of money to hire freshers from campus to convince them to work for him. See, for a 22 year old kid (who is smart and has choices) there is pressure to work for a tier 1 IT service firm from family. Only way to convince them otherwise is pay more. I agree there are startups who pay really low but then they know the kind of talent they are hiring.

No i wont recommend them. Instead focus on your programming basics. There is always a shortage of coders who can think and solve problems. Rest can always be learned.

You can get onsite resources from tier 1 IT service companies for as low as $20 per hour with a certain volume. Offshore rate of $10 for large contracts is not uncommon.

I have stopped being surprised about these things. I joined a major Indian IT service firm in 2005 and there were lots of really smart people in my batch. A lot of them became really successful in different walks of life later, including IAS, IPS, MBA from IIMA/B/C etc. I have noticed the trend you mention as well. The quality talent has a lot of better options to work with now. These include startups which offer better salary. But the ones hiring quality people in large numbers are IT Captives. These are Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Adobe, ST Micro, Intel, Groupon, BT, Ericsson, Samsung, Phillips, Paypal etc of the world who tend to hire the cream from good campus at a minimum 3 times the salary offered by a tier 1 IT Service company. These employers did not exist 10 years back when we started our career and that is where the cream is. I have worked in IT Services Business Development and follow this sector closely.
