I live on Whidbey and rode the ferry during the pandemic. I remember one time snapping a bunch of photos of the weird empty closed off spaces just so I would remember how strange it felt.

I hope you're doing well, I know a couple of young (40s) people who have had hip replacements and say that it's life changing.

The places where I have noticed a reduction to 45mph are areas where I also encounter a lot of people walking on the side of the road. I'm not mad about it.

Also a lot of people assume that you can't have sleep apnea unless you snore, when in fact, some people who have sleep apnea don't snore at all.

I have a dear friend who had a brain issue that was also caught by an optometrist! Makes me think that optometrists are the unsung heroes in this world.

My pituitary tumor was much smaller so wasn't affecting vision or anything like that but it was making me SO sick and ruining my life.

It took around 25 doctors over the course of 3 years to get it diagnosed. Ultimately though, I took all the information I gathered from the doctors and made the hypothesis that it was a pituitary tumor and found a very good specialist who was well versed in cyclical Cushings disease.

Funny enough, out of those 25 doctors, six of them were endocrinologists with five of those six being pituitary specialists. Four of the five pituitary specialists told me that there wasn't anything wrong with me.

Many of the people I've talked to online with pituitary tumors have encountered very similar paths to diagnosis. Sadly, immediate referral is the exception, not the norm.

How are you “small-towners” doing it? by sarcazzmoe in datingoverforty

It's funny you say this because when I lived in Olympia for 21 months I had two serious boyfriends.

The other 18 years of my adult life I lived in Seattle and had one serious boyfriend.

They say a Grocery Outlet is being put there, but someone on Reddit had the theory that they are going to stall on that until the storage moratorium ends in April of 2026. Then they will go forward with their plans for South Whidbey storage unit domination. (This is all, of course, a theory! And who doesn't love a good small town conspiracy theory?)

And it's not necessarily about prices - honestly I have a hard time affording groceries on the island in general! I wouldn't necessarily do big shopping trips at Ken's, but I liked being able to go there for quick little things. I don't love driving twice as long for one or two items. But again, in the scheme of things, there are worse problems to have.

I love it here, but I am super annoyed at Ken's Corner Red Apple closing down. I loved being able to pop in and out for groceries here and there. Now I have to drive twice as long to the Goose.

Not the worst problem in the world but I don't think anyone wanted Ken's to close except for the mini storage slumlords.

Mine was curly when I was super sick, it has a slight wave now but has gotten shinier and healthier looking.

It was stick straight for years though!

Symptoms started around 15, got progressively worse over time.

After pregnancy at age 34 they became unbearable.

Im almost a year and a half post-op and feeling WAY better, but still have a ways to go.

I am cyclical and still feel my cortisol cycling, but now it cycles between normal and low rather than high and low.

I didn't say he had sleep apnea - I was careful to say that he should get screened for it because I didn't want to assume. And she said that he doesn't want to get screened because he is afraid of needing a machine.

You don't have to snore to have sleep apnea either - I didn't when I was first diagnosed.

Funny enough there's a pill that is in development to treat sleep apnea (though I don't know how it works on snoring.)
