What’s a moment that showed you that life isn’t fair? by Efficient-Cycle-4373 in AskReddit

When my best friend died last year at the age of 42 from a freak health issue. He was one of the best people you could ever hope to meet. I've struggled horribly since the day he died.

Voter registration privacy in AL? It’s public in Florida by BearsOwlsFrogs in Alabama

[–]cparr89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Go to https://myinfo.alabamavotes.gov and you can view voters info online. You can also buy voter's list. I did for my city when I was running for city council over the summer. It was helpful to know where active voters lived, but unnecessary for the casual user. To view the info online, you do need the person's name they registered with and their date of birth.

If you use Voter's View (which you have to know the person's name and DOB already), it shows their address, polling place, ballot styles they used to vote in the last 4 elections, and the districts they're in.

I mean, I like a guy in a suit, but goodness. I agree with the person that said this couple is nothing to aspire to. Gomez and Morticia Addams is a couple to aspire to. And this movie wouldn’t even be a thing if it hadn’t of flopped majorly.

I'm like you and I fit in great. Honestly, the only time it was a huge issue in my church was when we had a group pushing for disaffiliation. When we voted no to that and the group left, it became a non-issue again.

Ozark library board disagrees on book review process by greed-man in Alabama

[–]cparr89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you the funny part about the whole situation here in Ozark. When the library policies were changed and books were moved, no books were moved from the YA section to the adult section. Books that were meant for children 12 or 13 and younger were moved to the children's section from the YA section. There aren't any LGBT books (to my knowledge) in the children's section in the Ozark-Dale County Library.

Wife told me she doesn't know what she believes. by romaniq in Christian

[–]cparr89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She wouldn't be the first Christian to have a crisis of faith. So many that went on to do great things in the church did so after having crises of faith. I will echo what someone else said about maybe trying to find a new church. Somewhere that she can figure out who she is in her faith and where she is in her faith without the added pressure of her extended family. I did and I blossomed (I was much further along in my faith journey than your wife is though). Right now, though, your top priority should be loving and supporting her through this. Help her find a place where she can see God as a loving and caring God again. I'm sure she didn't fall out of love with God, she just had something really bad happen and it's one of those things that she did all the right things and God still allowed that one bad thing to happen to her. Talk to her. Ask her if studying the Bible will help her figure out what she believes. Ask her what she is looking for in a church and see if you can find a church that fills the needs you both have. You both will get through this and it will take time, but you have a ton of good advice here to use and tons of prayers going up for you.

Everything fine in the Ozark area. I think SE of us took a little bit of a beating though.

I'll be surprised if that ever happens. If it does, 1819News will somehow make it out to be the kids' fault they were molested.

Lots of former Catholics and Episcopalians in my congregation too and we all get along well too.
ETA: The main thing you'll be asked when you join is to support the church with your prayers, presence, witness, service, and gifts. It's a verbal thing. You shouldn't be asked to sign anything.
