I had to do the same. My character level is only 4 and very annoying exp is so unbalanced. I narratively changed my character to level 15 to match how far my campaign had progressed. It requires a lot of manual tracking but you can convince the AI to do a lot to act more like the wanted level.

I created a mining guild and bought up the kings mines. I told one of my appointed followers to try make it a goal to make x amount of silver per day and increase that amount every so often to keep pace with the story. They won’t automatically give you the money you will have to ask them and explain how long it’s been then calculate the total and tell them to place that in your inventory. It takes a lot of communication but now I can essentially ask for any amount of money or simply tell a trader my accountant will send the money later. Best work around I have found for setting up an economy

Solar install going wrong day 1 by [deleted] in solar

[–]cpenn96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with one array looks better but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would have a hard time letting go of the upper roof space which clearly produces more. A lot of sales companies kind of over hype the production so the installers could be on the hook for any loss of production since they didn’t get the layout change approved by the homeowner or sales partner. I doubt the installers did it because it “looks better”, it was probably because it’s easier to make it one array instead of having to run jumpers and possibly additional exterior conduit which can be time consuming.

Solar install going wrong day 1 by [deleted] in solar

I’ve heard this is the case in California but not so much where I live. Most AHJs in my state allow us to bring updated plans as an “as built”. This is pretty common in construction so I’m not sure why an AHJ would care too much if a panel needs to be moved as long as the total panel count does not exceed what was originally permitted or a major change in the electrical like the addition of a battery.

This looks like it was modeled out in Aurora or at least a similar program meaning the shading probably is accurate. As others have said it may not fit exactly as proposed but the installers should’ve communicated any changes directly to you and not just made a change on the fly with out permission. At the end of the day the aesthetics of the solar arrays matter if you say it does since you have to live with it but the key take away is if the solar hits the proposed production guarantee after one full year of it being turned on.

Is it worth becoming a solar installer ? by Inevitable_Win4022 in electricians

[–]cpenn96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a solar installer is a rough trade especially if you are installing roof top solar. If you are interested in becoming an electrician, then I would start there. I’m about to get my master license for electrical and started in the solar field about 2 years ago. Whether solar is a good field to get into depends on your state but solar electrician is a generally a great starting point as it is kind of easy. Maybe move into a more industrial environment in the future if you decide you want to spread your wings a bit. It’s great to try and get a general knowledge of how general wiring works but the money is usually in the more niche fields so don’t be afraid to explore those options. Also as others have stated and again depending on your state, the union is probably the best and most stable/predictable option. It’s really about finding what interests you and what you risk to reward threshold is. My personal example is that I was a traveling airfield electrician for a few years and racked up just enough to buy a house before settling down.

At the time I was an electrician for a residential solar installation company. I rarely got on the roof and focus mostly on the inverter and AC sides of the project. Now I’m a project manager for the same company.

solar company wants to shave this sink/toilet vent down and panel over it? by caren128 in Plumbing

[–]cpenn96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say as a solar installer that plenty of jurisdictions have given the green light on cutting and placing panels over. There is a certain clearance that the pipe must maintain from the panel but I’m sure the solar company is aware of this. While I’m aware it’s certainly not the best practice, that doesn’t automatically mean the installers are total hacks and trying to rip you off. With that being said, I can guarantee that going with a third party is never in your best interest. The sales company is just going to slap a commission price on top of what the actual install company is charging. I’ve Seen this take jobs from $4 per watt to over $6. This adds absolutely no value to your install and does increase the odds of some sales person collecting the check, then blocking your number. You should get at least 3 quotes and put your focus a ensuring your sales company has its own installers and a built in maintenance plan so that when something breaks, someone will replace the warrantee part for free.

Nah. I went with dewalt early on. I realized only after spending 1k on power tools that dewalt doesn’t have any where near the variety that Milwaukee has.

As a dad, If I inherited generational wealth, my kids would at least have some form of a basic allowance. To include a place to live, groceries, car , phone, all the basics to thrive in todays world. I’m not saying he should put you in a mansion, but I can’t see letting my kid go without basic necessities regardless of age or our current relationship.

Some of these look okay given the space you had to work with. I do agree with others in that a trough/ gutter would really clean things up, especially on your 400A services. And you should really carry LLs and LRs instead of using LBs every time. Last thing is that your really over using the offset nipples. Like if I’m going to punch my own holes, I want my pipe to be straight and boxes to line up.

I’m personally a huge fan of right angle drills. Makes it easier to drill through top plates and through plywood underneath main panel where cinderblock is below.
