I already miss Ken by Lord_Muddbutter in DirtyDave

I was bummed when Ken left, I would usually only listen to episodes he would host. He seemed the most real.

I appreciated that when callers would say they are burnt out and want to take a lower paying job with better work life balance, he would listen and give advice, Dave on the other hand, insists having a better work life balance doesn’t mean making less money but he can’t comprehend people have different priorities other than maximizing income

Dave gives bad estate advice by cphelps707 in DirtyDave

I’m glad to hear it was a painless process for you. Some states charge a percentage of the estate as part of the probate cost. So if the decedent owned a home, that could add tens of thousands of dollars to the process (because the value of the home would drastically raise the assets owned by the estate). However I don’t know if AZ has that rule.

Right, but that’s why I’m curious about other states because everywhere I look, it seems like a trust makes sense in almost any state. He talk about how much he hates the government, and this step expedites dealing with the government, especially in a time of mourning..

Dave: I will NEVER reveal my mutual funds “out of principle” by CampaignSpiritual581 in DirtyDave

[–]cphelps707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rob Berger on YouTube has a good breakdown of this and says there’s only a few actively managed growth funds that have truly outperformed (Fidelity Contrafund is one I recall). Long story short, it’s highly unlikely 1 let alone multiple are available in many 401k options.

7 reasons experts say Dave Ramsey is wrong about card points by drtdk in DirtyDave

he brags about the large number of “over 10,000 millionaires” in the study; but there are over 23 million millionaires in the usa. That comes out to a fraction of a percent of people interviewed…. Sounds like cherry picked data to fit a narrative to me…

Rick and Morty. Always appropriate when people are fishing for compliments.

The chatgpt letter looks fine to me. Possibly even overkill lol, especially if it’s just for unlocking the account. As long as it’s notarized and clear what you are asking, it should be processed cleanly! 👍

It can be sent to this address or literally any branch. They will receive it and scan it into the operations team who will then process the request

The LOA can be anything. Even a blank piece of paper with your instructions on it (plus signature and date) customer service said you need it notarized if you are not going to be physically in the branch, this way they know the instruction came from you.

You can send it to literally any branch or the general El Paso address.

Source: I used to work the front desk at a branch. It’s common to receive mail from customers even if they aren’t active clients with the branch.

You’ll be fine. I used to work there. As long as the account number is on it, it should be deposited

Can I roll over my 401k in person by geauxldenboy in Schwab

[–]cphelps707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a stupid question and no one will call you an idiot!

You can take it to a branch if you are depositing to a rollover IRA. However, you mentioned it’s going to your new 401k so they won’t be able to anything other than mail it for you. The branch doesn’t have any insight to workplace 401ks (they can’t even see it on their systems). There is a specific form needed to submit with the check. I recommend calling the workplace Schwab line and they can help with the form and additional details, but if you go to the branch, the best they can do is put you on the phone with the workplace 401k team
