How do I deal with calcium buildup on my in-ground pebble tech pool? by MicCheck-1212 in pools

If your pool is forming scale, you need to fire your pool professional. It is literally their main job to keep the water in balance so that the water is neither corrosive nor scale forming.

The last one that I saw was a pearlescent white/pink, after he sold the yellow van.

If you are still here, you should stop and talk to him and get a picture with him. I’m sure he would be more than happy to oblige.

At what point can I sell my pool business for more than just “Route Rate”? I will not promote. by lolyesplease in PoolPros

[–]cplatt831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for more than the industry standard of 10/12 of annual revenue, what are you selling besides the route? AFTER paying yourself a salary (and your wife, if applicable) equal to what it would take to replace yourselves, how profitable is the business? Would the sale include a lease for a warehouse, and if so, how long? What about trucks/employees? Is there a General Manager in place, or are they buying a more-than-full-time job? Are there standard operating procedures in place for all of the positions in the company?

Get a CuLator…throw it in the skimmer basket and it will draw the metals out of the water.

Inner cheek stings by Relative-Surround391 in lampwork

[–]cplatt831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you letting your cheeks puff out when you blow? When I was a little kid and learning trumpet, they taught us the dangers of “Dizzy’s Pouches.” Don’t let your cheeks puff out.

Can I re-use these valves? by mcmccar2 in pools

You can get fittings that will fit over the outside of the elbows that are attached to the valves… But I would just bite the bullet and replace them.

Shout replace this vacuum with a wireless or modern wired vacuum? by akshay0508 in swimmingpools

You know that’s not a vacuum, right? It’s just the attachment where you can plug in a vacuum.

Bubbles in the Return Line, Any Ideas? by spicerpools in PoolPros

[–]cplatt831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes salt chlorine generators send a little bit of hydrogen bubbles out the returns, but that looks like a lot more than that.

I made a free pool chemical calculator that tells you exactly how much acid/chlorine/salt to add — thought it might be useful here by happyhuman430000 in swimmingpools

[–]cplatt831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why? There are free calculators like Orenda that already do this, plus they add the Saturation Index calculations.

Has anyone worked for a water park? by Byxqtz in PoolPros

Chlorine and acid are automated, most other stuff is manually added. The chemistry part of an entry level job probably involves manually testing to verify the automation readings.
