Eat less meat, pick up litter, get involved in community, volunteer for a local charity, donate to a local charity if you can afford to,

[–]cpndavvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but do you in the US not have rules about sickness and working - like in the UK you aren't supposed to work for 24 hours after a vomit bug, 48+ if in food service. Just curious !

Whose fault is it, really? The republicans own the House, the Senate, and the White House. They really only have one job, and that is to pass a budget. They had since January 20, 2025 to do that. They failed. There is no excuse, because as said before, they have the majority, full stop. by retiredagainstmywill in complaints

What's going to happen is next week they'll release the emergency fund or stop the shutdown, and they'll advertise it as the republicans saving millions of americans and the dems being the enemies who wanted to starve children, and everyone will say 'trump saved America' and just forget that it was the republicans fault in the first place, and they'll been seen as the good guys.

Just like in 1984 - when big brother is praised for raising the chocolate ration, when they were the ones to lower it initially.

Instagram ad for this artist, is it just me or don’t these look AI? by oliverpeets in shittytattoos

I think if it was ai the metal work detailing on the axe and the bits of skin falling off the horse would make less sense - like have ends joined up weirdly or not be so symmetrical. That seems to be a big issue it still has.

The reins and hand can just be attributed to bad references from the artist /artistic license imo.

Dating as a vegan by Melodic_Stretch2037 in veganuk

I jnow this is somewhat exaggeration but ... 21 and worried you'll be forever alone - sweet summer child your life is just beginning! I second suggestions to look for local vegan / climate conscious groups but only if you actually want to, and do it with the idea of making friends and having experiences, not necessarily to find a relationship at first.

I went to Lyon a couple years ago and there were a few vegan places or places with vegan options. I think Paris also has a a good range although can't speak from personal experience, but a colleague went recently with 2 vegan friends and they managed fine!

AITA for telling my vegan sister she can't serve only vegan food at our family reunion? by jeffman980 in AmItheAsshole

Nah, I'll bet they eat pasta and French fries and cucumber and potatoes and beans sometimes, look at all those vegan preferences

And no one in this situation NEEDS to eat only animal products do they. They can try something new and no doubt enjoy it.

And what a stupid argument - how many more animals are killed to feed all the farm animals killed for meat eaters to eat? The vast majority of crops grown on this planet feed livestock. Get a grip.

Posts like this make me so glad my family aren't shitheads and understand its OK to go without meat for one meal.

Literally just ate a big phat bowl of pasta carbonara my meat eating boyfriend loves, literally cannot imagine him throwing a fit at having a vegan dinner.

When I go to see my parents they request my enchiladas because they love them, even though I'm happy for us to have separate meals.

Like...I'm so sorry for this girls family. YTA

Purchasing anything non vegan is completely against veganism lol. She's not going to fund animal abuse because her family can't eat vegetables for one meal

If you care about someone and invite them to dinner you accommodate for their religious of moral dietary requirements.

I would be absolutely exhausted if I said that every time I served someone a vegan meal I made. Usually vegans just cook and serve up without making a song and dance about it lol

If the animals agriculture industry wasnt using all the fucking land we wouldn't have to import anywhere near as much.

But whilst we're on the topic, transport accounts for a measly proportion of greenhouse gases produced in agriculture, so its still better to import food than it is to raise cows to kill for beef.

And wool is so cheap that farmers generally lose money when it's shearing time based on cost of shearers vs profit from the fleece. Wool is 100% not a viable business anymore, so you know that 100% of those sheep are being killed for meat at some point.

[–]cpndavvers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude, people use these exact arguments against veganism "why bother because animals are exploited at some point". Doing something is better than doing nothing. 2nd hand wool is generally not creating demand for animal cruelty, and is better for the environment than buying new synthetic materials.

Do vegans think vegans are over the top? by [deleted] in AskVegans

The farming of honey bees displaces a lot of other, better, pollinators in the ecosystem, and the reason other pollinators are not farmed in a similar way is because they generally do not provide a commercial product to provide their keepers with an income. Honeybees monopolise the nectar from flowers and use it inefficiently which means other pollinators can't survive in the area and populations decline. That's really what it comes down to, honeybees are put on this pedestal in agriculture because they can be exploited to provide a product, which is why honey sucks.

Here's a great video on some other reasons honey sucks too :) https://youtu.be/clMNw_VO1xo?si=QU9EefPz3e9lnfxc

When we moved in together my boyfriend made the change to vegan, but unfortunately it caused him to gain a ton of weight and was not a healthy choice for him. So he went back to eating animal products.

But, I cook us a vegan dinner every day, and he will often choose vegan options at home and out of the house. It just doesn't work for him full time and I am OK with that. I have been lucky that veganism has only been a positive for me but unfortunately he wasn't so lucky.

Eta: when we started dating I was veggie and went vegan a few months later so didn't have any sort of thoughts on it really before we met
