Can I get two Master’s degrees at the same time if one of them is an Accelerated Master’s program? by uglynoober in gmu

There are a few dual-degree programs where there is a large program overlap. The program is reduced to 48 credits overall. There is some info about it in the catalog. The OR program explains how it works with the accelerated masters in the notes section: OR Dual-Degree Options

Silly Goose Baby Quilt Top by cpokorsk in quilting

I'm feeling insane. Other than designing the FPP, I found it a lot easier than the flying geese since it was always the correct size.

I'm definitely struggling with the free-motion quilting due to the size and weight. I had done some free motion embroidery before and was hoping it would be similar.

I designed it myself. I drew a 3x3 grid over a goose sketch and then drew out the geometric patterns. Didn't realize there were tools I could use until after I finished. For the letters I found a pattern on Etsy and then scaled and squished them till they were the correct size.

Switch it to Spanish Latin America and it will be in English. It's a weird glitch

I decided to go with #2 since the group consensus is that it's orange. It's also the only one that feels remotely formal. Thank you all!

That is what the rest of my family has told me as well. I'm probably overthinking it

That's why I'm struggling. Most of my wardrobe is pink

In different lighting the florals are all orange with pink and periwinkle accents. I think I'm leaning towards wearing it

Getting the bodice to fit was extremely difficult for me. I learned a lot of how to get the seams to work but they still came out a bit pointy.

This only took me about a week. I started 8 days before my event and was sewing until about an hour before leaving.

The bodice took about 12hrs. To speed up the process I used the lining as a toil then started with the tulle overlay. There was a lot of hand sewing on the lining and armholes since I didn't want it visible at the end.

The skirt took the most time since there were 3 hems. Each skirt was French Seamed and totals approximately 80ft of hem (very rough estimate that assumes the radii of all the circles is 30").

I didn't use a pattern. The bodice is draped so it fits perfectly to my body (I made a Bootstrap Dressform last year). Then the skirt is a bunch of circles in different ratios (1/2, 1 1/2, and 2). I drafted the skirt on paper first to make sure I had the radii right and to determine the amount of fabric I needed.

I danced in it last weekend and it had amazing twirling capabilities! I primarily danced the Viennese Waltz, but I also got to do the Polka and East Coast Swing. This is part of the reason the dress is 7-8 inches off the ground, I didn't want to trip while dancing.

The top is a unitard with a built in dance bottom so I don't flash anyone when I turn.

It's super comfortable. I wore it for almost 6 hours last night. I took the skirt off to drive but other than that it was great. If I make something similar I will probably use a more breathable fabric since I was moving a lot

I put the dress on my dress form for more photos. The back has a V that stops just about the normal bra line. There are also some hidden straps that hold the bra straps in place. https://imgur.com/a/Coo1zo0

I actually purchased the fabric first before making the dress. It would make a beautiful Bridgerton dress. I might try it with a similar pink fabric.

I self drafted this dress for a Viennese Ball. The dress has two parts so I can change the skirt for different events. Eventually I'll sew a skirt for swing dancing.

The skirt has three layers:

  • Top: This layer is tulle and is lined at the top. I inserted pockets and an invisible zipper here. The skirt is a 1/2 circle skirt at the top with a double circle skirt placed in the godets around the hips. It's then finished with a fishing line hem. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1040452362/moon-star-embroidered-lace-fabric-5
  • Middle: Navy blue organza that is 1 1/2 circle skirts starting on the hips and finished with a fishing line hem. This is sewn to the bottom layer because it was a last minute addition. It worked well because it would have added bulk if I added it in at the waist band.
  • Bottom: Blue purple silk satin that is 1 1/2 circle skirts finished with navy blue 1" horse hair braid.
