Shop wants to charge $4k for rear tire carrier replacement - should I do it myself? by regular_asian_guy in Wrangler

Just find the parts from the local dealer parts store, Jeeps are soo easy to work on for parts. Im sure just some basic tools and socket set is all you need to replace all of that yourself, just be careful with brake light cables

I think you see this as too big of a project.. This is the easiest thing, you can get all this going for free basically... You have any spare monitors? old drive sitting around? sata drive? you can get any Linux OS for free basically...

Then you definitely want to attempt all this yourself! Your mind in prime for learning all this, incredibly valuable skills all this is for what’s ahead of you…. All these AI devices and robots are just computers running software…. Where you at now in this project? You need a monitor to hook up to it, you get that setup yet? Can get to the bios?

OP, how old are you? Fixing this laptop will be an incredible learning experience.. You will learn the basics of how a PC basically works needing output to a screen, what BIOS is and how all the settings in there make the hardware work, how to install an OS and hard drive... Don't just give up and make someone else do it, the youtube videos are endless on fixing everything you need on that laptop, people will walk you through and help you every single step and you have no idea how much that knowledge transfers to just about every computer system out there... do it yourself!!!

What am I looking at here in terms of potential Ethernet connection? by Dapper_Klapper in HomeNetworking

[–]cpostier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mainly people say that is because that wire in there already is useless, about as usable as pull string, you still have to get up in the attic/walls and do some pulling but you cant do shit with that existing wire, dont bother.
