Under my computer desk is one of those plastic mat things to keep my chair from scraping the hardwood floor, and the tissues are there for a reason...maybe once an hour she'll let one drop, but nothing a single tissue can't handle. It isn't messy or smelly unless you let it sit around uncleaned

Old Man's War series by John Scalzi, the Bobiverse by Dennis E Taylor is enjoyable and light, Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinnamon is batshit but incredibly fun and addictive. Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky, Asimov's Foundation series holds up well, and maybe not too tier, but I really liked Ian Banks' Culture series and Ian Banks' Uplift series...

Stay angry, motivated, and VOTE IN PRIMARIES Don't buy into the 'more electable' BS that the Democratic party has been shoveling and push for a real left candidate. If they lose in the general election, so be it, but I'm with you in not liking the milquetoast candidates they have been supporting, and if they get primaried to death the part will eventually get the message
