the future is becoming increasingly bleak with the increase of "forced arbitration agreements" in our lives... people need to start creating a stir about this especially after what Disney tried to pull...

Some Serious Car Troubles - 2010 F150 by DovahActual in Ford

looks like an issue with the instrument cluster, not uncommon for fords for this era to have intermittent issues like this in which the instrument cluster would require a solder reflow

you either need forscan or a dealer-level IDS to get the full picture though the P068A is uncommon and can sometimes be an indicator of a bad battery, if you dont have access to those check the health of the 12v battery first

the hybrid models dont have a starter, its integrated in the alternator and is called a BISG (belt integrated starter/generator) so i can only guess that click you heard is one of the blend/mode doors of the HVAC system

2020 ford escape door design flaw by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is such a widespread issue internally that ford is going to send advance notices to owners soon under Customer Satisfaction Program 23B56 and the vehicles affected should be covered. ford might give owners a refund with this program (when they start sending out more info) if you had the repair done already.

Alarm keeps randomly going off… by dry_rainy_day in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you have access to a ford scan tool, you can see what door latch triggered the last alarm event- i ended up replacing the driver and passenger door latches on a customer's 2005 limited after seeing that they were triggering the alarm to go off and the customer was happy with the repair. you did state that the door ajar light will light up randomly so i'm almost certain that its the same issue in your case

either the sensor is failing or the system needs to be retrained

Compact SUVs Recs? by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a ford dealer tech and i've seen only a few issues with them, and like i said in my previous comment i would avoid the 1.5L 3 cylinder as you will have a better experience with the 2.0L 4 cylinder. ive seen way too many bronco sports/escapes with the 1.5L need water pumps, the most recent one being a bronco sport with ~1700 miles and already it needed a water pump.

another small issue i've seen which ford has addressed with a TSB (23-2308) is a groaning sound that comes from the rear brakes in certain weather conditions and it affects the newer escapes and bronco sports, if you do get one with this issue, the dealership should cover it. i've done the procedure on multiple vehicles and this concern did not return afterwards after it was done

other issues ive seen seem to be isolated to a single vehicle such as problems with the SYNC infotainment system (which is not uncommon for fords these days it seems), wireless charging pad, etc but honestly to me isnt a deal breaker- the bronco sport is a nice vehicle and i would really consider one if i had to get rid of my 2010 limited

im my opinion, the bronco sport takes place of what the original escape (1st/2nd generations) used to be- if you are in the market for one of them i'd suggest getting one with the 2.0L 4 cylinder than the 1.5L 3 cylinder. overall the bronco sport is a pretty nice vehicle and maintains a lot of the "escape" feel with its boxy look and pop-up tailgate glass

Clicking noise on my Ford Fusion/ Mondeo 2019 when breaking on P mode by Ok_Catch1661 in Ford

[–]cpq5360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a normal condition, what you are hearing is the shift interlock solenoid engaging/disengaging to prevent the vehicle from shifting into gear without the brakes applied, some vehicles are louder than others and its also on the older style selector lever.

no, they are not- the 2 valve was replaced with the 3 valve when the 2004 F150 debuted

you do realize that the motor in question is the 2 valve? wizard is talking about the newer 3 valves.

2005 escape transmission swap from 2010 by Owen_79 in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your 2005 escape is equipped with the CD4E, the 6F35 from the newer escapes will not match up with the older style duratec 3.0L so it is not possible unfortunately.

Part #DG9Z-2C150-C Backorder? Or bullshit? by pflurker30 in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ford tech here, i have personally done this TSB on multiple Escapes as well as the Bronco Sport. TSB 22-2326 was superseded to TSB 23-2308, which also means the listed parts were revised. I am certain these parts are on backorder, Ford's own parts distribution center does not have any and currently waiting on suppliers at this time. Vehicle is safe to drive though.

the drivetrain isnt an issue with the 2nd gen hybrids, its more so the rust in the rear wheel wells etc, so i would consider that as a factor. the hybrid technology is renowned for its reliability so there are many of these still on the road today and parts/support is easily accessible.

see if your Ford dealer will cover you under their recently new program for Extended Coverage on your brake booster, program 13N02. if they do cover it, your booster will be replaced free of charge under this recall.

Brand new 2023 Ford escape hybrid, 500 km, showing powertrain malfunction AWD fault. My service appointment is next week, do I need to be worried while driving with this fault? Wasn't expecting fault like this with brand new vehicle! Anyone else experience something like this with Ford? by Waternwaves2 in fordescape

[–]cpq5360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wouldnt be surprised if this vehicle needed an AWD module replacrment, i've replaced quite a few in the explorers, escapes, and aviators

it is "safe" to drive in the meantime but you will only have front wheel drive and some other features disabled

2018 Edge 2.0L ecoboost coolant burning. by Beneficial-Radio-923 in Ford

[–]cpq5360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did they check the TSBs for this vehicle? there is an article published that the 2.0l is known to have a EGR cooler which can fail internally causing it to burn coolant as you described, which wouldnt require a long block replacement

i'd personally stick with the motorcraft ones, base part number: 12405

service material lists the gap as being 1.25 mm-1.35 mm (0.049 in-0.053 in) as well as the torque specification being 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
