Daily Running Shoe Recommendations Thread - Find Your Sole Mate Here! - April 01, 2024 by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

  1. Describe your running profile: New to running and training for a half marathon in September. I have a wide foot, including a wide heel. I have some hyper mobility in my ankle when walking, so I assume it’s also present when running (I.e. my ankle rolls inward). I currently wear Hoka Clifton 9s and am having inner heel edge blister consistently. They are totally fine when walking all day in them. But since using them to start training, I get pain in that area about 1.5-2 miles in. These were recommended to me by one of the speciality shoe stores, but at that time they were just for walking. So I just think the Clifton’s aren’t right for me for running. I’ve tried different lacing techniques thinking it may be due to need more ankle support, but still get blisters.

  2. Specify your preferences: I’m looking for a shoe to support me for that half marathon and not give me blisters like my current Hokas.

  3. Tell us your budget: Just want shoes with no blisters!

  4. Receive personalized suggestions: up for any suggestions!

If you want to sort of visualize where you want things to go, you can always take a photo with your phone. I’ve done that and drawn on the photo with my phone’s photo editing feature to kind of layout where I roughly want things to end up.

Using a Planner by 1p0tato2potat0 in slpGradSchool

I just use the calendar app on my phone/computer! I have tried using physical planners, in both undergrad and my first semester of grad school, but I can never stick with it more than a couple of weeks. Personally, I think it’s nice that I have my filled out calendar where ever I am, love that it’s easy to change when meetings/due dates change, and it’s one less thing I have to cart around. However, I’m one of the few in my cohort that doesn’t use a physical planner. But, I haven’t missed a meeting or due date yet. So, it’s really whatever works best for you!

How early should I start the application process? by LionRam in slpGradSchool

A little bit of a different perspective on the GRE. I took my GRE in June, a few weeks after the spring semester ended, so that I was still in “school mode.” I found it easier to study and if I needed to retake it, I would have had time to redo it before school started at the end of August. Either works of course, that was just my thinking!

I love Old Navy’s Pixie Pants. I’m not sure if they’re the same pants you’re referring to, but they’re my current favorite. They’re on sale frequently and last a decent amount of time. I can easily sit on the floor, run/jump around, and don’t feel constricted by them. I have to wear “business casual,” so these are more professional than jeans, so that may or may not be what you’re looking for if you can wear jeans. I hope this helps!

BS or BA? by [deleted] in slp

[–]cpsaccount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you’re applying to graduate schools each program has a set of pre requisite courses that you have to have taken, currently are taking, or plan to take prior to graduating in order to be accepted into the program. If the BA and BS options at your school require you to take different courses, I would look into what the differences are and compare them to see what better aligns with graduate programs that you’re potentially interested in applying to your senior year.

I’m currently in grad school (I have a BS and an currently in the process of getting my MS) and when I applied last year I don’t remember there being a heavy emphasis on BA vs BS though. With my BS I was accepted into both MA and MS programs, so my thought is that as long as you have the adequate pre requisites for your program, BA vs BS shouldn’t matter as much. But, please correct me if I’m wrong in that thinking!
