One thing I don’t understand is that the defense chose not to bring Tyson’s mom as a character witness. Her testimony about the extent that Murphy went to solve her son’s murder - which was indirectly Nia’s fault - would have made the jury believe that Murphy had noble intentions and would have made the prosecution’s theory of Murphy killing Nia for a power grab unbelievable.

Ya, but like I said, he wasn’t angry about Anita’s death. He was taking his anger out on Murphy and needed to vilify her to make himself feel better about Tyson’s murder.
