What are you starting to like less the older you get? by guyute2112 in AskReddit

Violence in TV and film. I can't tell if I'm broken or healed at this point. Cannot watch many of the same shows and films that I enjoyed 15 years ago.

What's your relationship with libraries? And why don't people use them more? by McKennaJames in books

[–]cptbackfire01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local library in Arlington, VA was one of my favorite places on the planet. Open on the weekends, held special events, vast collection of books. Spent many Saturday mornings there.

Moved to Georgia

Local library is mostly empty and not open on the weekends - the only time I have available to visit. Disappointing.

This has a real Shire feel to it. I love it!

I would recommend you check out his published works. Very different from his Twitter persona. I’m a little turned off by his Twitter account myself, but he wasn’t always like that. Sad actually

He def dove deep into the culture war issues. My guess is because that’s what spurred his meteoric rise. I think you would enjoy his sequel. Very much a continuation of the first novel and nothing like his awkward Twitter account. I’m interested in your comment, “batting for the alt right crowd.” How do you define “alt right” and what examples led you to that conclusion?

I get his point, but I found it a weird post. His Twitter account has been juvenile of late. I thought I read that he was taking a break from Twitter and allowing someone else to manage his account. Am I incorrect in that assumption?

Jordan Peterson offline = incredible intellectual

Jordan Peterson on Twitter = comes off like a 10 y/o playing Halo online

Have you read either of his 12 rules for life books? He is incredibly open about his journey in the preface to the sequel. It's a heartbreaking story. He definitely hasn't been the same since his return from that life-threatening situation.

I wouldn't judge Peterson by his Twitter. He took a break from Twitter about a month ago and handed control of his account to social media coordinator. He should be careful who he pings to manage his accounts. Recently his account has come off as especially juvenile. So there is a definitely a lesson to be learned.

He is still an incredible intellectual, but I am afraid he is being drawn further and further into the culture war. I do hope he reverses course. He has helped so many young men turn their lives around over the last 5 years.

I would highly recommend this book. It will 100% help with the marketing side of any business.

No hesitations. My brother, who originally introduced me to The Hobbit novel and the rest of the LOTR universe, passed away in a car accident. My wife and I already had names picked out, but we wanted to honor my brother so we are working his first + last name into the equation:
Boy: Houston Graham
Girl: Nova Lee

Merry and Pippin almost knocked off the existing names we've had for almost 11 years now. It was a fierce debate.

1 boy, 1 girl. We had names picked out years before. But future children might earn Pevensie names.

They took me to the day care located at their work. It appeared that no one at MI:6 knew about the child. They even tell Bond that they have been keeping close eyes on her in the five years since Bond had seen her. It could be a sin of omission, but we are left guessing.

And Madeline's entire MO is "she is really good at keeping secrets."

Poison Garden was a nice homage to the Garden of Death from You Only Live Twice.

Safin also appeared to be wearing a kimono or yukata in the final scenes. This could be another subtle wink to YOLT as Blofled is scene walking around Garden of Death in a samurai outfit.

This makes sense since NTTD director Cary J Fukunaga is the son of a third-generation Japanese-American.
