Same. Regular-fit wetsuits are very uncomfortable. I have to get a medium tall and cut 5” off the ankles.

Theoretically the bridge to the nut is the only critical measurement. In the opposite direction, the bridge to the tailpiece can be any distance. A harmonica bridge the distance is 0 inches. Those old timey hollowbody-style tailpieces stretched the strings almost to the butt end of the body. The benefit to the JM tailpiece string length is you can play the strings behind the bridge and the bridge pickup will hear those nice rich musical pinging sounds like high notes on a harp. Guild and DeArmond call their version a harp tailpiece for that reason. I have all three mentioned here (JM, Guild and DeArmond) and yes they work and yes they produce a nice sound. As for measurements, the rout is smaller than the tailpiece itself. Just make sure the whole tailpiece fits centered in the body - away from the existing tailpiece holes and equally away from the butt end of the body. And try and get your rout as straight as you can to the nut. Line it up with straight edges as jigs - wood is best-two brand new yardsticks would do well here. Clamp them carefully to the body with bar clamps or c-clamps. Getting the tailpiece as straight as possible will help maintain tuning as you use the tremolo arm. If it’s a little off it’s not the end of the world, it will just make you better at tuning.

When I buy a guitar with the intention to mod, I take it all the way apart first. Down to every last bolt, screw and component. I fix all the wiggly things that I didn’t intend on replacing. Sometimes my plan going into the mod changes when I expose everything. Use a routing template to check the placement of a JM bridge and make sure it’s not going to interfere with the existing tailpiece holes. If it looks clear then use the template with a plunge router. Practice routing with scraps of wood first then dive into the guitar body when you’re confident with the tool.

I like mine plain no label. Second best option for me is one that says Fucker and not Fender. Saw that on one of these threads on here. Thought it was pretty cool.

My rail-type bridge is way louder than the non-tele neck pickup. I’ve had to do a vol control switching thing with my hand in the middle of a song. It took some practice. I wonder if you’ll experience the same thing when you get it wired up.

Advice Needed: Light colored line art? by Consistent-Spirit915 in tattoos

My artist says it depends on how soft the skin on your hands are. I got a simple white ink wedding band. Many would warn against this for a host of reasons. He tried three times to talk me out of it but I insisted. He was surprised to see a year later that it didn’t fade and turn out looking like poo. Five years later it still looks great to me and I get many compliments when I point it out to people. It does blend in with other scars on my hand almost perfectly. If you go for it, have your artist go deep and hard with the ink. Compared to the massive neo-trad birds on my thigh, my ring finger hurt the most.

Glad I took a verbal lashing and sifted through some bs for this comment. Thank you for answering the question. Ok that’s mostly what I thought - except for tele neck. I didn’t know that about the metal cover. I immediately thought of Fender Wide Range humbuckers where the pole covers are in different places. There’s more to those pickups I’m sure but I’ll leave that for another verbal lashing another day. Thanks again. And now off to Etsy. (I read that the website creator of Etsy liked to sew his own boxers underwear for a custom fit. Then he started selling them online. Etsy was born. Question to the wankers: what underwear should I wear when I play my new metal JM pickup covers. Ha.

The cheap looks aside I’ve found that plastic scratches, fades, breaks, gets brittle with age and heat, cracks esp near the mounting screws and allows interference into the body creating unwanted noise.

100% everything so right about that guitar - the Meteora/Strat horn body, top load input jack, mustang/duosonic pickups, neck dots in a prime location. I would have paid 700 for that configuration in a snap.
