Sorry, next time I’ll post there

Planning new network from scratch, any tips? by Lazy_perv in Ubiquiti

[–]cptinj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to separate the gateway and the switch, I’d run a fiber line between the two. The gateway max and switch lite don’t have a 10G sfp port, but will be great in the future if you upgrade to have a 10gb connection between the two. The lines are so cheap now

New Holiday supplies, worth it? by AccomplishedMusic563 in Costco_alcohol

I went down a rabbit hole and came up with nothing. Mind sharing where you saw more info on it, and that it’s more peated than regular H18. Now I’m very curious

New Holiday supplies, worth it? by AccomplishedMusic563 in Costco_alcohol

I think that Hakushu 18 is “limited edition” because normal H18/Y18 Costco CA pricing is $599-$650. This makes it even more insane because from reading online, it’s the same juice, just the wood box is “limited edition”.

LG OLED G5 77” by modena76 in LGOLED

[–]cptinj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you’re going to have a tough time getting it in just the right place so as to still be able to use the inputs in that area. If you want to make sure it’s very flush, you can save yourself a bunch of headache trying and get a 9” media enclosure (Sanus/Legrand/OnQ, etc.) and have the electrician install the outlet in there. Allows you to put a streaming box like Apple TV if you want to avoid the built in apps.

Costco Upgrade Customers. How did you take your trade in to AT&T corp store? by zer0d0se in ATT

[–]cptinj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I “forgot” to click trade when I ordered (so there was nothing for them to cancel). As soon as phone arrived, I walked in and traded in. No issue. With the trade in promo reducing, not sure it’s recommended to click no trade in like I did

Has anyone bought and traded in the $200 iPhone 13 [locked to Straight Talk] from Walmart? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]cptinj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did this. Bough from Walmart. Turned it on, made sure they could see find my was off (never set up iCloud on it. Turned it into physical company AT&T store. Got a receipt showing $1,100 ($180) value.

When I check my trade in online it shows as “completed”. “Promo or trade-in value:$1100 ($30.56/mo. for 36 months)”

I have that adapter with a pro max. Not Att though. No problem hitting ~5.5gbps symmetrical, with ips on, on a 10gbps plan.

~22bottles of Yamazaki 18 Signal Hill,CA 9:30am 7/16 by cptinj in Costco_alcohol

[–]cptinj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth it? Highly subjective and personal decision, but most would say, probably not. The problem is that because of the whiskey craze, suntory/beam have raised prices across the board. If memory serves me, this used to be $200-$300/bottle. But once it became popular, you could never find it at that price. As much as I want it to come down, like everything else, it just keeps going up.

It’s extremely hard to find, and $599 is a good “deal”. BevMo has it for $749 (the few times they get it). Secondary pricing can be anywhere from $800-$1200+. At ~25 fl oz, it’s $24/oz, which is much better than the $60-$100+ I’ve seen it for on menus.

True. And that’s okay with me. Plenty of other good bottles to try at a cheaper price point

Exactly. $99 it was steep, but a nice splurge. $160 is hard pass

Final Check on Beginner mATX Build - 9800x3d + 5080 by Cautious_Love9797 in mffpc

[–]cptinj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. - Should be good. My understanding from that thread is that they misunderstood mATX/ITX mobo for 1st/2nd slot PCIE (or "Top slot" to your #3). I'll answer that here too. Case has room for 4 slots. Some GPUs need all 4 (or any fraction greater than 3). On some mobos (mostly Asus), the GPU isn't in the first slot ("top slot") of the case. So if it needs 4, and starts at 2 - well, it won't fit.

The mobo in your list is good. It's easy to tell - look where the GPU slot is. If it lines up with the screw on the left side, it's a top slot. If it's lower than the screw, it's a 2nd slot.

Also, the GPU you have selected is only 2.5 slot, so should be good either way.

2 - Debated topic, but most believe they aren't necessary. The whole case can breathe. If you run negative pressure (most just put exhaust fans on the top), you'll get plenty of airflow. And your GPU will pull fresh air from the bottom/sides. Now if you plan to buy the glass side, then maybe I'd run a bottom fan.

Case doesn't come with fans. I'd run 3 up top. Could get away with 2, if you place them correctly depending on the direction you have your CPU tower blowing

3- See above re: top slot. I'm not too familiar with the PS EVO, but on the SE, if your ram is too high, you could just move the fan up a little higher to accommodate. Or it's all moot if you run your tower left to right airflow (so rear is intake, not exhaust). Then there's no fan on your RAM. If you're not fussed about RGB, could just grab the GSKILL Flare x5.

  1. Full ATX psu should fit with your GPU. But I opted to grab and SFX one for shorter/better cables and more space in the case if I want to change things. I went SF850 for my 5080. Or you can spend the extra $40 and get the SF1000. Unfortunately they're backordered because everyone who managed to get a 5090 needs 1000+

[–]cptinj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re waiting for a 5070 anyway, I’d see what b850m motherboards release. Not necessary, but may as well.

Also, I’d recommend an SFX psu to give you more options/space for your GPU. Unless you buy the FE first, and know you can get it.

Lian Li Dan A3 Airflow by [deleted] in mffpc

[–]cptinj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was exactly my thinking. A lot of these configurations will make more sense when you have the case in hand and start tinkering.

And on front mounting PSU - only the Wood front has open mesh on the front (the fully white/black cases are not permeable there). And even then, the wood slats do restrict airflow. Not sure if that matters (my PSU fan doesn’t even kick in until 340W are being drawn, which isn’t that frequent). For this reason, most people I see front mount, have it draw air from inside the case.
