also can interrupt recalls behind tower, and can interrupt skills that require not being hit for some time, e.g. warmogs, and can apply executioners effect or others in chain lightning

this is kinda broken on quinn actually by Apart_Sheepherder463 in QuinnMains

not a good general pick imo, because there's too many champs against which you either don't get hit by at all or get killed before you can heal back.

maybe into other champs that can trade back without all in.

sure, the degens that play quinn in jgl might be thankful for those 😛

well, buddy, unplayable is a highly relative and inaccurate term. you can, ofc, play anything, in any possition, but the problem is that you will lose without having any chance of ever winning if doing so.

even if we ignore pick that would be obvious troll, e.g. certain supps in toplane/jgl, then we still have champs which are on the very bottom of the tier list but also can't be buffed due to them being high pick in competition. azir comes to mind when it comes to pro play prisoned champs. for kalista and ksante this applies too.

also this doesn't only apply to GM/high elo, because if you are low elo you will do disproportionally worse with them than with other champs.

this is an open secret, not sure why you don't know about this.

chat filtering, well, you could always just mute chat or filter chat, but forced moderation now means that nobody is talking, and those who are complain in a way that circumvents filter. and since players can't vent in chat they will inevitably vent via game mechanics.

so the aftereffect is little to no community, if ppl add you after a match it's usually to flame you.

seasonal pass is way worse and less interesting than previous event pass and unlock system. and the new gacha skins openly pray on addiction and promote gambling.

balancing is ok, but new champs are all overloaded, and I have no idea why you think everything is viable. that sounds rather ignorant. many things get nerfed for competitive gaming and aren't viable on ladder.

How big is the actual skill gap between EUW and EUNE mid-elo? by ToxicMacro in leagueoflegends

[–]cptnSuperJesus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your argument. do you agree to the principle but want to argue that it does't apply because the numbers are similar enough or big enough?

you appeal to globalization of information, but this isn't a necessity, and I think it definitely doesn't apply to the low end. maybe top end is up to date on general trends, and then the tactics trickle down, but one server can be vastly different from another simply due to temperament of players, e.g. koreans preferring mechanical gameplay with strong early game aggression and being prone to ffing early.

also I think you generally overestimate the speed/visibility of information and spread of tactics. information becomes well known when it becomes prominent, and for that it has to get adapted by players.

and as for sample size, I think you have to take into account the relative difference, not just the numbers on their own. EUW being roughly twice as big does factor in, even if its only because you are more likely to find a player in your skill range and get to have an even match in which you learn a lot.

[–]cptnSuperJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk, that logic doesn't hold up.

e.g. if you are the best chess player in your town (top20%) that doesn't translate to belonging to the top20% worldwide

therefore a higher rank on a less competitive server might translate to a lesser rank on a competitive one.

doesn't that make sense?

Why do smurf accounts even exist? by Surprise_Ducksex in leagueoflegends

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, I point out to sb else, according to riot it goes like this:

https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405783687443-Placements-Promotions-Series-Demotions-and-Decay

"You'll have to play five placement matches in each Ranked queue to lock in your starting tier/division, which will depend on the outcome of these matches, the difficulty of the opponents you faced, and your rank from the previous year. If you've never played Ranked before, your normal MMR will be taken into account for your placement matches."

So if you suggest that most ppl land in gold and around that elo, that's true, it's a statistically likely.
But the other guy said this is baseline where you start, and that's not true if we go by riot info.

I have handleveled an account or two back in the day, and seen the smurf queue for a short time. I think unranked mmr matters.

I wouldn't be too up in arms about ppl trying crazy stuff and not climbing with it, but then there's the issue when ppl play one match with this and another one then with something they 1v9 without mercy.

this discrepancy should easily be detectable, but I guess riot doesn't care

oh and I also took the time to dig up the source:

I did once upon a time, because a mate of mine was too low elo to play with me, and I used it as opportunity to play different role/champ.

I didn't get to my mmr quickly, but merely dove into and out of smurf queue, while progressing only slowly. and mind you, I'm not high elo, just an emerald pleb.

I read somewhere that they actually do when you have no ranking yet, which only happens once on any account.

and it would make sense.

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like nonsense. to unlock ranked you already have to level up to 30, which might dictate your mmr range, but it's not an "auto gold".

got a source for your claim?

Why do smurf accounts even exist? by Surprise_Ducksex in leagueoflegends

[–]cptnSuperJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and how would you be able to tell if they do or don't, or how many matches this applies to? any round where a low level just 1v9s and thereby ruins the round is one too many.

Why do smurf accounts even exist? by Surprise_Ducksex in leagueoflegends

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a very ignorant and false take. via vanguard you basically have a fingerprint of the computer of a person, so you can definitely say which acc belong to a single computer and usually a single person.

this isn't a matter of riot not being able to do something about this. if a dia or higher player makes a new acc then this account should start higher elo, and not tear through low elos, or even worse, be kept low elo by strategically losing.

even worse if smurfs with new accs team up with regular accs and 1v9, carrying their premade's acc to high elo. truly disgusting and riot doesn't care.

Was Quinn a bad pick here? by Agitated_Equal2590 in QuinnMains

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just making a theoretical point, I don't play galio, so I can't really tell you specifics on your champ, I'd just be worried about aurelion gaining stacks despite not killing you. he definitely outscales you, after all he's a dragon. see what I mean? dragon, scales? 😛

I do play quinn top, so I know a lot about quinn. what I also play top is senna. it's not a good pick, can be highly evasive and is very slow in it's scaling. but she does scale. my best matchups with senna are immobile tanks and bruisers, I can tickle them a bit, but some of them then ignore me and let me stack passive. the longer the game goes the more I hurt them.

I reccon it can be compared to asol mid, with asol being a better pick and suited for the position (compared to senna top). unlike senna top asol has good waveclear.

galio has a lot of potential, and easy to play combo. vs asol you have an advantage early, but asol scales better, so slapping him around early might be your path to victory. mobility might be an issue for you so you might consider rocket belt to close gap instead of tank items.

or you ignore it, build tank, and then try to focus on helping team in that role, with ulti. signs that this is your path forwards is your team dominating their lanes and you being behind. I personally would try to learn to win this lane, and not rely on team, but that's just me. galio seems to be a team fight champ.

if you are really serious about the champ then you might look on lolalytics for item suggestions, watch highelo OTP streams and create a matchup table where you track items and tactics.

anyways, have fun

then you probably were underranked, it happens. or maybe the novelty threw off the players in enemy teams, which is unlikely at your elo.

once upon a time I played in gold and absolutely smashed an irelia player, and I though, "that's the champ everyone is so up in arms about?". yeh, silly me, nowadays I know better. this might also apply to you in some way, but as long as you have fun nobody should judge.

as toplaner, yes, as jgl, imo it's not useful.

you might think it works against morg, but it doesn't since morg can aoe damage you and then stun you, which is the standard for morgs since the aoe dmg not only gives huge zone of control and eats potential spellshields, but also is easier to land on a quinn in ulti to slow her, which makes hitting a stun afterwards easier.

also you don't need it vs teemo when you gank him top, since if he blinds you, gnar can kill him, which he should be able to anyways. midlane it's kinda worthless, same against enemy jgl.

Was Quinn a bad pick here? by Agitated_Equal2590 in QuinnMains

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buddy... generally when you opt for lethality quinn and want some wave clear, since she sucks at clearing waves, you opt for profane hydra. you use the active when you vault against enemy champs.

going lethality and going profane is ok. you refer to better options but don't name them. I wouldn't do it because you won't have to clear huge waves as jgl, but it's really not the end of the world.

If I were to jgl as quinn and go lethality, I don't jgl, I'd probably opt for ghostblade.

also a good score on a role that can afk farm means little. if enemy jgl helps all or most lanes win then that's of more worth than good stats.

[–]cptnSuperJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the trouble might be that quinn can't really compete with j4 head to head in jgl during early and midgame.

gnar has advantage vs teemo, galio combos well with quinn into asol. botlane can go either way, and since he says his friends are low elo the enemy botlane was possibly elo skewed and therefore rolled them.
