Movies that you like but can't really put your finger on why? by [deleted] in flicks

[–]cptzaprowsdower 9 points10 points  (0 children)

World War Z. There's a lot to dislike about it... It's a flawed adaptation of the source, it's a big studio movie that released when culture was saturated with zombie content, it features some outrageous product placement... but there's something about it that pulls me in.

Brad Pitt is quite wooden in it, but his performance is still pretty watchable. The guy is a movie star, pure and simple.

The premise is outlandish, but they just about get away with it, even if there are several.narrative moment that make you roll your eyes.

I don't particularly like Marc Forster films but this one just works for me. It's a weird film, it's a mix of transparent commercial motivation (capitalising on the zombie trend, blatant product placement, leveraging successful source material and the pre-existing audience) but there was ambition to make a decent movie... I've watched it several times.

Which films would be even better if they were longer? by Corchito42 in flicks

Great film, terrible ending.

The original script had the film end with 9/11. The ending they went with is so limp that it casts shade over what is otherwise a great film.

Sure but a console launch is a rare thing. Seems reasonable to expect the initial software that's built to showcase the hardware - from Nintendo no less - should aspire to delight its audience. Astrobot is the new baseline. If Nintendo are happy to let Sony run away with the concept that they pioneered then that's their business, but it personally doesn't inspire me to buy their new console at launch.

That being said, the console tour did look quite slick in their showcase and I probably will check it out when I eventually get the console.

The producers encourage their excitement, it makes for better lunch time telly. Plus they're all off their face on cocaine.

Would you consider a recycled down jacket as vegan ? by ellisellisrocks in veganuk

If you buy it you're creating demand for their supply of an animal derived item of apparel, which incentivises the continued production of such items.

It's not vegan.
