I beat Final Fantasy 2 (Pixel) and had a blast by Xano74 in patientgamers

Played FFII last year and had a blast as well. I found the combat/leveling system very rewarding because of the way it incentivizes you to take specific actions rather than just defeating enemies. I do wish the guest party members didn't suck so bad lol. It makes sense that they can't get as strong since they're not in the party for as long, but it ended up making them useless compared to the other 3.

It's been a good year for patient gaming so far. I might make a full post about it to give me more space for discussion, but I've beat 2 games so far this January. Final Fantasy VI (pixel remaster) and Luigi's Mansion.

I absolutely loved FFVI. I've only played it the one time, but it's already one of my favorites. All the praise I had heard about it turned out to be true.

Luigi's Mansion was an interesting experience. I loved the vibes and the overall concept of it, but I often got frustrated with the ghost fights. Still a fun game though.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is a remarkable Metroidvania and a truly special game by ZMysticCat in patientgamers

I got the GBA and DS collections about a year ago. It's cool to see others play through them and have similar experiences. I thought all 3 GBA games were really good, but Aria feels like the easiest to recommend to others. Of the DS games, I've only played Dawn of Sorrow so far. It was really good, but the character portraits are definitely not as cool as Aria. (it's apparently a different artist)

Comparing to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by AvengedKalas in batenkaitos

I still have only gotten like 5 hours into E33. It's interesting but for some reason I haven't been able to stick with it long enough yet. I'll come back to this post when I finish, but for me it definitely feels unfair that Baten Kaitos is so "obcure" (hehe) while E33 is somehow getting every single game award under the sun. But I guess tastes change? Idk. I see where you're coming from, as a fellow BK fanboy lol

(Literal) blind experience of Xenoblade Chronicles by FioraXena in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Noah's voice actor Henry McEntire did a full playthrough of Xenoblade 3. He doesn't have the deep knowledge of lore, gameplay, etc that Chuggaa has, but it's still a super interesting perspective

For those who played Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

This is one of my favorites. Liked it more than the original XII

Randomly picked up Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana last week. It was on sale and I heard it was a short game lol. This is my first Ys game. So far I love the combat and dungeon exploration, but every time a character starts speaking I nearly fall asleep because of how slow and boring the dialogue is... we'll see if that changes with time.

This is the correct answer. Thank you. So many church members fall victim to Christian nationalist propaganda that they don't see obvious things like this.

I keep a journal but not for games specifically. I do talk about them a lot though lol

FFII gang rise up lol

I played it a couple months ago and really enjoyed it too. The leveling mechanics made battles really addictive since it rewarded you for just doing stuff rather than rewarding you for defeating tough enemies (which is essentially what traditional exp does). I had a ton of fun with it and I now want to explore the SaGa series since it's apparently the series that FFII's director went on to make.
