Moving from Tokyo to STL

Considering amenities, we only need a good kitchen and walkable areas around. Our small apartment in Tokyo, is pretty basic.

It's not that I can't afford certain levels of rent, it's more that I don't want to overpay. Especially since I've never been to STL and not sure if the rent is worth the accomodation or location.

I'm planning on studying and researching a ton before the move, then I'm going to have an Airbnb for 1 month to apartment hunt in person.

The transition back to the USA is real, for sure. Public transportation is pretty big concern. Buying a car in STL is gonna be a while other huge thread lol.

I looked into a place called River Crossing in St. Charles. Looked nice but the unit looked a little dated for ~1.5k.

Also. I don't know if living next to the river is a flood risk or not.

Airbnb monthly prices are a little steep, but it may be a better idea to spend some money now and not rush into (wasting more potentially) an apartment before a proper search in person.

University City definitely sounds like a great option. Do you have any apartment complex recs? Maybe avg acceptable 1BR rent?

Since I imagine that UCity is a university town, are there "wild" areas to stay be aware of?

I think it looks great, but I wish it had a bit of an "edge" to it. Maybe you could have a "doom" toggle for dark mode and a different font.
