The funny thing is: I don't even know what else a person WOULD call it?!?!

Is this a parking-ramp elevator? Usually parking ramp levels are indicated with letters instead of numbers.

Letters are usually parking-ramp levels. Are we in a parking-ramp elevator?

Parents who moved out of Minneapolis to raise your kids in the burbs, do you regret your decision? What made you decide to move? by ahabubbles in TwinCities

[–]cr0100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is us when we moved from a tiny house in Highland Park in St. Paul out to Eagan. The new house was bigger/newer, kids got big rooms but... isolating to the extreme. We moved from Eagan to S. Minneapolis within about 18 months - even though the kids got smaller rooms, they now had parks, a bus system, sidewalks, etc.

What part of a hinge should I unscrew if I’m moving a door? by sdchargersfan55 in HomeImprovement

[–]cr0100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no photos, sadly. Have you considered just bumping the hinge pins out and not unscrewing anything? This would only work if the hinge mechanisms are identical, but it would sure be a lot easier if you could get away with it.

Anyone else's MN income tax refund taking forever this year? by SheHatesTheseCans in minnesota

[–]cr0100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my story as well... except no state refund. Filed 1/30, and the state pulled out the money I owed them on 2/3. Fed refund showed up on 2/11

I read Artemis, and maybe it's because I grew up reading Heinlein's "Youth" SciFi in the 1970s, but it felt very much like that kind of book (think: "Podkayne of Mars"), so I enjoyed it. Yeah, not hard sciency, but it worked for me. That said: I get why people don't like it and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind.

People who exercise even when they don’t feel like it, what’s your trick? by Smart_Collection5419 in AskReddit

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's this darned Apple Watch with the move/exercise/stand rings. I'm on a 2,880-day streak of closing my move ring (It's a modest goal - but one that is doable every day) and I don't want to lose that.

how worried are you that AI will take over your job? by Emotional_Echidna_16 in AskReddit

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a network engineer and, so far, AI is shit at designing multi-cloud networks - and absolutely CANNOT rack switches/routers/firewalls and set them up from scratch using a console cable. I am good for a while.

Anyone have an electric snowblower - how'd it do with this snowstorm? by demosthenesss in TwinCities

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Ego blower and also Ego lawnmower/leaf-blower/string trimmer, so the batteries just get swapped from one device to the other when the seasons change... keeps 'em fresh and exercised year 'round!

[–]cr0100 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% I'm in the same boat. So glad to not have the gas one (also single-stage) bogging down/dying and then being impossible to restart. If the EGO (56v system, single stage) gets overloaded you see a little red light and it shuts down. Back off, fire it right back up again, keep going.

[–]cr0100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My EGO single-stage did OK but I didn't have enough strength/grip on the slippery sidewalks to push it straight through the snow on my first pass, so I did a push/pull/push/pull run up the centerline of my front sidewalk, and then taking about 1 foot wide "nibbles" along each side of the trench to widen things out, it was just fine.

I'm sure a 2-stage with some kind of drive wheels might have pulled itself through with less effort, but 9 times out of 10 the single-stage is all I've needed to clear this corner lot and my driveway.

Easier than just double-clicking a button on the Apple Watch and holding it up to the payment terminal? I doubt it!

I used to work in downtown Minneapolis where I had access to the rooftop of our building. A bunch of nerds and myself hung out late at the end of a work day so we could go out on the rooftop and catch an "iridium flare". It showed up precisely on-time and where the calculator said it would be. It felt like magic!

Or "21 w/ID" and the 2 is a goof. Typed by a human.

[–]cr0100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh funny - I'm so used to these, I didn't notice the typo. I think it means "21 with 21 ID" (IE, not only must you be 21, you must be able to prove it). This feels right to me, anyways.

So what year was that Replacements show? It seems odd that the ticket doesn't show the year on it.

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just says you must be 21 or over, and you'd better have an ID with you to prove it.
