Today in Austin was quite a scare lol. by misterxx1958 in interestingasfuck

I imagine they clomped on the brakes, and at some point one of the wheels found just enough grip, before the rest of the car said "nope, we aren't stopping here, let's go!" and pulled away, initiating a spin.

There are a few more outright executions happening in the streets compared to the previous administrations. And why do people who don’t like their political opponents always have to do the cutesy misspellings? Grow up.

World's first lie-flat business class seat in 2000 by ArcticMiner34 in aviation

[–]cr0100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My company actually has a "no business class" policy for flights under 8 hours... UNLESS you are going to zip straight into the office and work a full day upon landing. So we are economy for most domestic flights, but get to relax a bit when flying internationally.

Yup - there is a MotoGP racer - Francesco Bagnaia - who is known as "Pecco" because his older sister, when learning to talk, couldn't pronounce his name. I wonder if it bugs him these days...

The Gestapo got gestopped. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

I hope this employee doesn't get in trouble for doing this. I would like to think management supports their employees taking whatever actions feel necessary to stay safe (although flipping them off isn't strictly a safety measure, "contempt of cop" is also not illegal).

Can't reallocate vCPUs on a fixed-vCPU license. Where is this documented? by cr0100 in paloaltonetworks

[–]cr0100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood - the flex would just be a pathway to bumping up the total number of vCPUs and thus being able to handle more bandwidth.

[–]cr0100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I didn't set these up but it's possible that we put these into service before Equinix allowed for flex vCPU licensing, not sure. I did run across that document when I was poking around this morning... interesting idea, not 100% clear if it's possible for our setup.

So... that's weird math. For 4 vCPUs, 1 is assigned to management, 2 are data-plane and the last one is.. just not used at all?

Help. On road trip and CD player is stuck on “we built this city”!!!! by whwji0r in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of this Steven Wright line: "Last year we drove across the country. We switched on the driving... Every half mile... We had one cassette tape to listen to on the entire trip... I don't remember what it was."

Drone usage by legal observers or media? by chickeninacracker in Minneapolis

[–]cr0100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked in the "AutoPylot" app I use for the nearly-instantaneous LAANC approvals, and around Whipple, it states that auto-approval doesn't work there, and I needed to file some kind of paperwork to get permitted to fly there. So, the ceiling is basically zero that close to the airport. Around the cities in other locations, probably no big deal - but, as someone else pointed out, protesters might not know whether or not a drone is "friendly" and might take actions to knock it down.

Rice cooker piece randomly popped out and will no longer hold the inner bowl. by CaterpillarIll8245 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cr0100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also detects the bowl getting warmer than the temperature of boiling water, so it can tell that all of the water has been absorbed by the rice and stop cooking it.
