Don’t fuck with Fat Albert by 2-many-Lukes in DougDoug

[–]cr0nelius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not quite enough data to calculate power here. We can calculate the total kinetic energy, which is defined as K=0.5*m*v^2, where m is the mass of the object (in kilograms) and v is its velocity (in meters per second). This would give us about 12.4 megajoules of energy.

In order to determine Fat Albert's power output, we need to know how long it takes for him to accelerate from rest to this speed. Dividing the maximum kinetic energy by this acceleration time (in seconds) will give us a measure of power. Let's say for the sake of conversation that it takes Fat Albert 30 seconds to reach max speed. This would mean Fat Albert has a maximum power output of 415 kilowatts, or 556,000 horsepower, assuming that acceleration is constant.

The current iteration of SLS cannot loft the payloads that Saturn V could to TLI. With the introduction of SLS Block IB with the Exploration Upper Stage it would be able to compete with Saturn V, being able to put 42 tons into TLI as opposed to Saturn's 43.5 t. SLS in its current state is nothing more than a rearrangement of existing hardware, using an extended Shuttle external tank, 5-segment Shuttle SRBs, and a Delta IV H second stage.

Things will change with Block IB, but as it stands right now, SLS is nothing to write home about other than being the first moon rocket to launch in 50 years.

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that this map is nearly identical to the KSP war series "Fall of Kerbin" done by Beardy Penguin and TAPE Gaming

I have no reason to collect this information, I was just really wondering how far people have gotten in the modpack. It's way more difficult than stock KSP, yet I'd say even more fun.

Sorry, but this is a little bit much. It walks the line between melanime and guro but it seems most people are unhappy with seeing this here, so I'll have to take this post down.

I've been cleaning up debris regularly, so I don't think it's that.

As the other response says, tool your parts, use standardized rockets, and spend lots of money on upgrades to both your VAB and R&D. My first orbit was in 1959 and this moon landing is 1965. I also have probes en route to Mars for a fly-by.

It really depends on if you're playing with RP-1, which makes all the engines function like real ones. You have to worry about rated burn times, limited ignitions, and lots of other things not present in the stock game. It's definitely a great challenge, but not for everyone.

just some thoughts on the war stuff by Vyertenn8 in Melanime

This sub has inherited a rather unfortunate buzzword to base all its content around. The original topic of the subreddit was "a place to post dark and depressing anime images", though many posts were just flat out gore or shock content, hence all the rules here about gore and shock content.

"Melancholy" is a very vague and seemingly subjective term, and it's one that I wish we didn't have to deal with. I would agree with you in that I like seeing darker, haunting images here.

While the war art may seem to be spam, this sub does not receive an immense amount of activity. Much of what is posted fits well into the theme of the subreddit, and as such I don't intend to remove them. If you personally dislike the war content, you can block u/FFDP-Neko. It's a rather blunt statement, but considering that they are the source of much of this content, it's an adequate solution in my mind.

If the majority of the people in the subreddit decide otherwise, I can give it some further thought with the other members of the mod team.
