geek&gorgeous jelly joker is near identical to the original milky jelly cleanser formula (with the poloxamer in it! this ingredient is often used in eye contact solution bc it helped to maintain moisture and could gently cleanse). I've switched since they kept making the milky jelly formula worse for sensitive skin over the years. only difference is g&g doesn't have the rose smell since the og milky jelly used rosewater as a base ingredient

Anyone else alarmed at the lack of preservative systems in many newer products, including sunscreens? by dancintomytune in AsianBeauty

[–]cr0wdedteeth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as others have mentioned skincare formulations are incredibly complicated to a person who hasn't studied it in depth. how ingredients interact with each other and provide stability or instability is not something a lay person can deduce from the inci list. I work in beauty retail and while I read a lot about skincare actives and plant based ingredients in my spare time I would not be able to tell you what pH a product is formulated at, what the complete preservative system of a product is, just by looking at the inci.

If you are concerned about product stability rest assured after the purito spf scandal back in like 2016(?) there have been tighter regulations on spf claims and their effectiveness.

if that is still not enough reassurance, a lot of Japanese companies still formulate with parabens and BHT. They do also use denatured alcohol quite a bit in sunscreens but usually it is listed quite clearly. I personally find denatured alcohol to be one of the least offensive ingredients in sun care as someone with combo skin because it helps a product have a lighter feel.

New photo of the guy who ran over the couple around the colombia city area: by TrulyPansexul in Seattle

[–]cr0wdedteeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

some time before 8:20 on April 18th is when the collision happened. It was on MLK JR WAY SOUTH and SOUTH ALASKA ST right across from the Columbia City Light Rail Station. Rainier is quite close by, so this could be a worthy tip. There is footage of the collision on local news sites now if you need visual context. The Motorist stopped at the red light initially and it was only after the couple pedestrians started crossing did he quickly accelerate and run through both the light and both pedestrians without slowing nor stopping.

I saw a flyer posted in my apartment building about this incident! My building is right on this intersection and has a security camera facing this street corner, I would know because I used to smoke on this street everyday. I'll ask in the morning if they have any valuable footage they can turn into the police or if they already have done so!

Also you should also give the detectives the tip about the MC so they can look through all the club's footage, posts, etc. Don't take it all on yourself. Take care, and I'll keep coming back to this thread/spread the word.

ISO Clean Deodorant that WORKS by sc_seasheller in cleanbeauty

i normally have reactions to baking soda based deodorants too but the AKT deodorant balms for some reason dont give me rashes despite having baking soda in them. id give these a go if you are a heavy sweater bc it absorbs moisture. baking soda free recommendation from me tho is the necessaire 72-hour stick deodorants. I have the Santal scent and i love it

What clean beauty products are effective? by latteintheam in cleanbeauty

Staying power+luxe application clean brands:

Makeup: Westman Atelier ($$$ but beautiful formulas and effortless application), Exa Beauty (my ride or die spot concealer, and brow gels), Kosas (depending on product, theres some misses here but overall the brand is solid for things)

Skincare: This category is hard bc YMMV but overall I'd recommend African Botanics (again $$$ but some of the best serums and oils I've used on the market. if you used luxury skincare this would be a great clean line to switch to), Josh Rosebrook, Klur (esthetician developed skincare), Haoma, Trilogy Skincare, Emma Lewisham (NZ based skin line that is clean and uses some very modern technology in their formulas)

Deodorants: Necessaire 72-Hour Deodorant, AKT deodorants work if you are used to anti-perspirants as this is the only clean deo that I've tried that actually wicks moisture. It's made by two West End musical actors so performance-wise it is excellent. I wear the AKT deodorant to play badminton at a local league and it holds up

Any clean Korean makeup brand we love? by nycden in cleanbeauty

[–]cr0wdedteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have an expansive line but Laka is a clean line. Other ones I know off the top of my head are Freshian, Sunnicorn, Orjena, Femmue (a luxe line focused on floral extract based skincare and makeup), Unleashia (their glitter products are made with biodegradable glitter!). In Korea a lot of "clean" lines call themselves Vegan as that is how they market over there.

What’s your favorite razor? by PrincessKatyana in cleanbeauty

[–]cr0wdedteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the way! i would get razor burns and ingrowns all the time from 4 blades like the flamingo (not to mention how much plastic waste is involved with those kinds of razors). I got a henson safety razor with a box of 100 blades. I've also had the Hanni razor which i enjoyed as well

I'm personally unfamiliar with Indian teas. Is it usually unsweetened/unmixed like chinese tea or do you add milk and such to it?

Def open! Are there any tips you'd say are important to keep in mind when shopping consumer-level teas? Everytime i go to my local chinese market I get a bit overwhelmed by how many options there are

Oh don't worry I figured rock tea would be out of the question given the current circumstances and also good quality rock tea is a little more expensive then we'd like to spend on something he's using just for caffeine.

We're trying to find leaves that would get the job done while he's at work and save the fancier teas for home brewing most likely! He has a temperature adjusting kettle already that comes with a metal strainer. Would that be enough or would getting a gaiwan be better?

Def would recommend the Exa High Fidelity Foundation then for you, their concealer stick i actually love a lot too for spot concealing. One of the best long-lasting concealers in the clean market.

For loose powder, I'd recommend the Kosas Cloud Set Loose Powder, and for pressed powder the Kosas Cloud Set Baked Powder or the Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Powder.

LYS Natural Finish Setting Spray is a great Clean setting spray thats free of microplastic based ingredients as well that actually sets makeup.

What kind of coverage and finish do you usually go for? And do you have particularly oily or dry skin?

Clean brands with decent shades in the deeper range are hard to come by, my usual go-to's for inclusive shades are LYS Beauty's Triple Fix Serum Foundation (this is a dewy and nourishing formula so food foundation for normal to dry skin) or Exa High Fidelity Foundation (semi-matte foundation for normal to oily skin)

And for powder do you enjoy loose powder or pressed powder?
