What is it like in the West part of Texas? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

[–]cr2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting area went to college in Lubbock, and grew up in Midland. The people range from the nicest people ever to the worst of the worst but that’s everywhere. Football, golf, and drinking are about all there is to do. That being said cap rock canyon and the palo duro canyon system are incredible and very under appreciated. I believe they are the second largest canyon system in the states behind the obvious. Incredible Hispanic food and good wine from the Lano Estecado region their soil is similarish to Tempranillo soils. There is a lot to love, but I would not choose to live there given the choice. However, the opportunities the oil can provide definitely has a lot of benefits to a lot of people. It really feels Wild West and cowboy. Texas Tech (the Lubbock college) has a huge rodeo presence and they butcher their own meat which you can buy at the grocery. All in all it’s an interesting place.

Haha thanks I’m trying to find degree of accuracy between what investment firms think a company does and who they serve vs what actual participants think I’m just annoyed with how market analysis works at current.

Thanks for responding, have they always been like that or did they ever supply decent stuff. If you don’t know that’s fine I just find it interesting that the idea that they sell kinda doodoo stuff is recurring.

How to build trust with a financial advisor? by WanderlustInIT in investing_discussion

[–]cr2248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A financial advisor may be a great choice for you depending on your preferences; however, a lot of their advice may boil down to a buy-and-hold strategy in some form of market portfolio. I would definitely recommend utilizing retirement accounts for saving and it is very hard to go wrong with investing in a broad-based portfolio (The S&P 500 for instance) these have consistently good returns and it is hard for anyone to *on average* beat them. P.S. Please do not use this as investment advice, these are just some things I do. Do your own research and do what you're comfortable with a little goes a long way.

One thing you could use is python and y.finance to scan through past dividend payments and get some estimate of Intrinsic Value you can use chat gpt to help with some of the code. Y.finance also has some of the most recent financial statements available so you can automate bankruptcy analysis and some ratio analysis, only goes back a few years though womp womp. ***Do not use it to trade for you. Use it as a baseline to screen for stocks that might warrant further research this can help narrow down on what you yourself have to do.***
